Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
First topic message reminder :
First person to get the confirmed correct answer gets to post the next clue. No need to give the number of characters in the name, but the clue must be for the first and last name (although variants of first name are allowed e.g. Andy or Andrew)
E.g. Delivered without Jay, a robot, without Cy = Bjorn Borg

Yes, there is another one. NAT and the second one combined should give you the players first or last name.JuliusHMarx wrote:NAT?

See JHM's NAT note and my response. It does require, unfortunately, some knowledge of the computer protocols.

You are up late JHM. NAT = Network Address Translation. The second one is Po(..) Address Translation. The two acronyms should give most of the name. IPSec is not what I had in mind.
Very famous retired male singles player.
PS: The other name is an anagram of some of words in the clue.

Correct.
Perhaps you can provide an explanation for others, how you got the answer.

Sure thing:
"in a road" --> Adriano
NAT PAT --> Panatt, which is almost Panatta... (did I miss another a in the clue?)
At least now I know what Network Address Translation and Port Address Translation are, THANKS for that laverfan

Are you saying my clue came from the realm of computer mumbo-jumbo and some electronic sorcery?
Just kidding.

The anagram leads me to Garsse (who beat Federer in DC, i think 1999). It does not sound correct, though?

Julius I'm afraid my clues aren't that sophisticated - drunk just means it's an anagram of the following words!

Gold could be Oliver Golding?
Neon is a Halide and inert. One can derive Nole from Ne and +1 may indicate his current rank.
Amritia3ee, is this the correct direction?
