Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
First topic message reminder :
First person to get the confirmed correct answer gets to post the next clue. No need to give the number of characters in the name, but the clue must be for the first and last name (although variants of first name are allowed e.g. Andy or Andrew)
E.g. Delivered without Jay, a robot, without Cy = Bjorn Borg

does anyone want clue number 2?
Yes.
Are clue 1 and clue 2 for the same player?

(Would love to see more clues like JHM's genius Mary Pierce clue!)

Spitting always reminds me of either a camel or Hanescu.

Picture Ben = Benhur?
Roman Chariot = Not sure what types there are, if that is what the clue is about.
Pompeii - Vesuvius, volcano, fire, Italian player, Dr. Who?

The three and four-wheel ones, I presume. Benhur shows the two- and four-wheel ones, IIRC.
Also, it could be Charlton Heston and something derivative.

Re: Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
The Roman chariot part is just an indication that the Ben in question is Ben Hur.
So it's - Picture....'Hur'....in Pompeii perhaps.

JHM... Nice to start a new one, which is more general rather than this Tennis-specific one.
Reckoner... I am not sure how you end up with rude words with the letters in my clue.
