Who Is Jerry Solomon?
Well he used to be Ivan Lendl's agent and now they have been reunited. Did this happen before or after Lendl linked up with Murray? From an article in The Times (PPV but well worth it!) it appears to have been before. Solamon was speculating on who would have been good for Lendl to coach.
"For him to become Roger Federer’s coach, where do you go with that? For him to become Rafael Nadal’s coach, where do you go with that? He wouldn’t have done those jobs, though he was never asked. For him to take a guy ranked 100 and work that all the way through, the time commitment is enormous, so Ivan had to have a situation that worked for him as much as it worked for the player."
Solomon and Lendl were both at Madison Square Garden for the tennis event on Monday that included the Federer and Roddick exhibition. This event was being used to promote Madison Square Garden as a possible venue for the WTF. From another article in The Times (again sorry PPV) this is what Scott O'Neil had to say about moving the WTF to New York.
“Tennis belongs here,” Scott O’Neil, the youthful president of Madison Square Garden Sports said yesterday, heralding a significant heightening of the venue’s attempt to restore both the men’s and women’s end-of-season championships to the Big Apple."
Madison Square Sports organised the event in collaboration with StarGames, which is run by Jerry Solomon (who is Ivan Lendl's agent). Its a small world isn't it? I know there is a story hidden in here somewhere I just can't put my finger on it...
For those worrying about Lendl neglecting his new pupil have no fear. He has been keeping in contact by phone.

Re: Who Is Jerry Solomon?
No it doesn't belong there, whatever this Scott O'Neill dude may say. Or Jerry Solomon.
It now firmly belongs at the O2 and should stay here.
And besides, the Jubilee line doesn't run to MSG. Or it didn't last time I checked............

In my opinion neither London nor New York deserves the world tour finals when they both already have a slam. It should go to Germany, South America, Spain, Scandanavia, Eastern Europe or Asia.

Why not Africa? Spain have a few good tournaments already as do some of Asia. Agree about Germany as they don't have a big tournament except Halle!

Re: Who Is Jerry Solomon?
I believe nothing is ruled in or out once the current agreement expires (2014 ..?). But the fact that London has proved highly popular with players could be a big factor .......

There was an article about tax laws and how they deter participation. Nadal switched to Halle from Queens, IIRC.

Much as I have enjoyed having WTF at the O2 - I think it is rather nice that it is a peripatetic tournament - it is the World Tour Finals, after all.
The States hosted it in recent years in Houston, and I think HB's comment is a really good one - it would be lovely, after the O2 run, if a non slam country hosted it.

I think it's the top players and their travelling which is going to decide it..and money. But at equal money, Europe will win as this is where most top players are from for now and they don;t want to be sent another time around the world, especially at the end of the season.

I think you are very probably right Tenez - it would seem to make perfect sense.

I thought this was more interesting than just speculation about where the WTF will be held after London...
