Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
To the Scarlets game from anywhere within the region.
"Cardiff Blues have teamed up with Ferris Coaches to offer supporters up and down the region a brand new ticket and travel deal in readiness for the big Welsh derby match, when the Blues face the Scarlets on Saturday 24 March, 6:30pm kick off.
Supporters are being encouraged to arrange a group day out at the rugby with friends, family or work colleagues to watch this highly anticipated match. In return, Cardiff Blues will send a complimentary bus courtesy of Ferris coaches, to the chosen venue to take the group to and from Cardiff City Stadium.
Tickets costs just £22 per person, which is the standard price of a Blues adult ticket.* Each ticket gives entry to the match itself as well as the Heineken Fanzone, which hosts as array of pre match entertainment."

Good incentive by the blues. I always though the regions should provide free/very cheap transport from respective rugby clubs in order to increase attendances and try and engage regionalism.

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
The Scarlets have a great offer for season ticket holders for the forthcoming Welsh derby match against the Blues in Cardiff.
The fixture will take place on Saturday 24th March at 6.30pm at the Cardiff City Stadium in a match that sees both teams aiming to climb back into the play off places.
The Scarlets have teamed up with their local rivals the Blues to offer Scarlets season ticket holders the chance to purchase two stand tickets for the reduced price of £30.
To take advantage of this offer Scarlets season ticket holders should call the ticket office on 0871 871 8088 between 9am and 5pm on Tuesday 6th or Wednesday 7th March 2012. This is a limited offer only and only valid between the times stated.
Non season ticket holders can purchase tickets directly from the Blues by calling their Ticket Office on 0845 345 1400 or purchase online at www.cardiffblues.com/tickets

fair play, this is a brilliant scheme they've rolled out. Hope they advertise it well enough so enough people actually use it .But seriously, well done the Blues

bah I can't afford to buy my tickets this week through the Scarlets, such a pain. Still £22 isn't bad, so don't mind paying that on the day. Am going for the unreserved seating area, as I think that's where all the other Scarlets fans are going to be sat.

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
The free travel deal is a brilliant idea. It should negate the 'its too far to go' complaits. Hopefully with the buzz that the matches at the CAP have generated the 'fair weather' fans should be wanting to turn up.
Also seeing as the Blues have got their act together with the deals on this, do you think they may try similar deals with other sides for matches? After all if they offered a deal like that to Munster (as they do travel in force) they could probably fill CCS, which would give it a better atmosphere and then start to reduce the negativity around it.

About time - pretty sure this is what I recommended on here a couple of months ago.
The kick off time should also make it attractive for people who attend club matches within the region (player or fan) to attend. Although bar takings may be down a little, the fact they would be picked up from, and dropped off at the club should help.

They tried the same thing in the first season at CCS and it bombed.
We'll have to wait and see if it works this time around.

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
The key is to market it - and perhaps at £22 those tickets are still too dear. I am sure people were saying £15 was too much for a regional game in all the discussions last year.

That may put off a few attending and also the game is being televised live on free to air S4C.

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
It always annoys me that home region games and particularly derbies are on TV as this could really be used to encourage people to come down to the games (if they knew that was the only way to see the games).
I'd buy a ticket or 2 now but unfortunately I'm coming back from Venice that day and may not be able to get to the game (but we'll see, I live down the road from the stadium, and think I get back around 5ish).
London Tiger - I remember all the regions did a free transport offer a fair few times up until a season or 2 ago and like Dave says it never took off because there wasn't the interest and still a lot of ill feeling in the surrounding areas of the regions.
It may work now but the reason it was stopped (at least in the Scarlets region) was because it cost way too much and didn't bring in the fans.

I know what you mean. I get rather upset because I go to the home games, and they are televised, but I can't get to away games, but they ain't televised too often. I do think that Derby matches need to be televised though. After all they tend to showcase the best of the welsh talent, and if it is on TV the average international only fans may well watch it. And if the crowds singing/chanting/banter comes across on the TV well then maybe, just maybe, it will encourage them to attend matches.

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
hmm I suppose that is true SS, the stadiums are likely to be fuller and the teams will be going at each other hammer and tongs.
I'd still like all the TV companies - S4C, BBC Wales, BBC Alba, RTE, TG4 and the Italian channels - to get together and agree to pool the coverage so that if say an Italian side is playing in Wales then BBC Wales will show it through the Italian channel in Italy and vice versa - then you'd get the away games shown on TV, and maybe have less home games (but these games would still be available in the 'away' country) meaning more games on TV and more chance of seeing other games (such as Munster vs Connacht or Edinburgh vs Treviso).
Some may say I'm a dreamer though, but I'm not the only one...

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
Hi all, what are tickets like for the game.
Im headed to Wales for work next week and was thinking to head to Rodney Parade. Would you get tickets on the day?

Re: Travel for FREE with Cardiff Blues
Might be worth you giving Rodney Parade a ring if you can Stag to see what availability is like.
As it's a rearranged match and on a Thurs, you might have a good chance of getting a ticket, but don't hold me to that!

Red Stag - I'd imagine there must be tickets - though how their going to work it I don't know, as I imagine a fair few people who bought tickets for the original game may have either lost them or won't be able to come for a Thursday game so there should be tickets flying around.
