Re: Alcatraz
Been looking forward to this since I saw the first mentions of it around a year ago, so will definitely be watching.
What worries me is if it will get a 2nd season since the ratings have dropped by almost half over the first 9 episodes and with Terra Nova just cancelled by the same station for much the same sin its hardly looking good for Alcatraz.
There's a slim hope that since its a JJ show Fox will stick with it for another year if its hitting the right demos, Fringe hasn't been great in ratings since it started but it does well with 18-49's and Fox haven't got anything to replace it with that there sure will be better. Though Fringe will be lucky to get a 5th season also and if it does it will most likely be its last.
A lot will depend what Fox have in the pipe line for next year but on a line through Terra Nova its looking bleak.

Re: Alcatraz
I read netflix are looking to keep Terra Nova alive.
Alcatraz looks good from the trailer and is something I will definately be watching.
It has a feel of 4400 and The Event with the story line of people being taken and brought back by some power (aliens in the case of 4400).
Hopefully it will last longer than the Event (which I enjoyed)

Re: Alcatraz
Yeah watched it Tuesady.
Good start I thought.
Sam Neil is a decent actor.
The blonde is quite foxy, and of course Jorge Garcia aka Hurley should be good in it.
Like others I've watched the likes of:-
The Event
Terra Nova
Flashforward
All pretty decent, but only last 1 series, hopefully Alcatraz can do better.

Re: Alcatraz
I watched the first episode and am completely lost by it.
So prisoners disappeared in the 60s, and now suddenly start reappearing without having aged at all. Got to be aliens!

That was an interesting cliff hanger at the end of episode two, I didnt see that one coming. The boss man definitely knows more than he is letting on.

Re: Alcatraz
I drove by Sam Neill's farm which is just out of Cromwell in Central Otago a few years back. Lovely, spectacular scenery nearby... but I noticed a few dead stoats (road kill) with lots of eagles feasting off them by the roadside.
Still haven't got round to watching Alcatraz but I will someday soon!

Enjoyed it, it was good, took me a bit to warm to it. Prison scenes were all that i enjoyed at first but i eventually warmed to the present day stuff.

Re: Alcatraz
Sorry but I'm not enjoying this series as much as some of you.
I've never been a fan of Sam Neill, he only seems to have one facial expression regardless of what's going on - that is of scowling.
I like the basic idea though and the flashbacks are well done.
so I'll keep watching.

There should be a law stating that if a show is cancelled before a obvioue ending that the makers should tell what would of happened

Re: Alcatraz
13 episodes and we don't find out the truth. Don't believe it. There's nothing worse than investing the time into watching a series which I thought was quite enjoyable and then for it to be plugged before finding out the truth is gutting. Hopefully they release something that gives us answers, only fair.

Re: Alcatraz
I wonder if the decision to cancel it was made prior to the last three episodes airing? Those last few were great.
Gutted it was cancelled before we had answers, it's like Flashforward all over again.

Re: Alcatraz
Just watched the end of the series and then I've read it's been cancelled....unbelievable! What a complete waste of 13 hours of my life! Okay, yer it was slow and boring in some places but towards the end it actually got quite exciting and intriguing. Sam Neill is a shocking actor but I must admit there would of been so much to play with in series 2. Hopefully some US network can pick it up and take it on.
What a big letdown!
