Mass Effect 3
"I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite message board on the citadel"
It's out tomorrow. Cautious optimism, is anyone going to be buying it in the near future? The first two games were truly sensational, and the last of the Shepard trilogy looks like the real deal. Although it is supposed to be the final game we control Commander Shepard, I can't see it being his final appearance, the series wouldn't be the same without him.
Anyway, what say you?

Re: Mass Effect 3
I'll get at some point due to being a massive fan of Bioware since their first game back in the mid nineties. I'm not to fussed about getting it straight away as I though as a RPG ME2 was a very mediocre game and in the end it's RPG and story telling I buy Bioware games for.
Hopefully it's less FPS aimed this time around and more of the traditional aspects of what made their games so good in the past. I'm still waiting on them eclipsing or even equalling BG1&2, they have made some good games since those two but I've always been a little disappointed since.

I completely understand your point about the lack of story telling in ME2, there were no real 'wow' moments in 2 apart from the part when joker was controllable. Compared to 1, which was a superbly paced game, it was pretty much by the numbers stuff. Hovever as a shooter it was probably the best game I've controlled, very tight and precise.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Got it Thursday and finished it last night (took around 35 hours to finish).
Absolutely loved it, so much that I'm going to go back to ME1 and do a play through with one character (female this time) all the way through one, two and three.
Got all the DLC for all three games, but hopefully there will be more released for ME3 by the time I get round to it again.

I remember the fight in question and it's not that hard, you just have to dodge the beam at the right time.

Re: Mass Effect 3
It was the decision and outcome at the end of that fight that made me put down the game for a few months
I couldn't believe how it turned out!
