Todays Most Overated & Underated Superstars....
There are plenty of superstars who are pushed to the moon yet flatter to deceive, and on the flip side there are plenty of superstars who have potential in abundance yet dont get the opportunity to showcase their talents. What i want to know is, given todays current crop of wrestlers in both WWE and TNA who are your top 3 overated and underated superstars and why? Mine:
Overated.
1) Cody Rhodes. I just dont get it. I cant see the charisma, i cant see how he would be believable as a Main Eventer. For me he's a good solid midcarder but he doesnt interest me on the mic and i dont like his look.
2) Alberto Del Rio. Ok so some people might say he cant be overated because no one rates him, but clearly the WWE do. Possibly the worst drawing World Champion in recent memory. The guy couldnt draw heat if he opened an oven door. I find him very very bland in the ring and on the microphone and obviously WWE officials see something that i'm not.
3) Ken Anderson. Probably my personal pet hate in pro-wrestling. I cant stand the guy. He apparently has this 'charisma' because he talks loudly and boldly and ive even read people comparing his microphone talents to that of The Rock, which quite frankly is absurd. Ken Anderson didnt make it in the WWE and he isnt making it in TNA. He thinks he's better than what he is but i dont rate him whatsoever.
Underated.
1) Kofi Kingston. Love this guy. I watched a match with him on Superstars against Ziggler and it was awesome. Kingston can go in ring, he is hugely talented and whilst Main Event status may be out of reach i firmly back him as a go to guy for a top level star to have a solid match with. He's likeable, watchable and his mini fued with Orton a couple of years back proved he has an edgy side too.
2) Austin Aries. Is he underated? I dont know. But he sure doesnt get the exposure he deserves. Aries is amazing to watch and i believe with a face turn could be fastracked up the card and could massively get himself over with the impact zone crowd. He is one guy id love to see in the WWE. I really rate him.
3) Santino Marella. He could be the closest thing to the Eddie Guerrero 'Lie, Cheat & Steal' gimmick if given the chance. I wouldnt change his character too much, he is hugely over and the crowd love the comedy act but with the odd tweak here and there his push could go through the roof. I'd like to see him adopt a 'its not cheating if you dont get caught' and 'happy go lucky' type of gimmick and interact with the crowd to really frustrate his opponents with his sneaky tactics. He's likeable and actually very good in the ring.
Anyway, over to you guys...

Del Rio - Like you said, very bland in the ring and on the mic. Found myself fast forwarding any of his talking segmants I found him so boring. I think WWE know he struggles when they have to use a "personal ring announcer" to draw heat.
Big Show - Slow, unfit, and rarely adds anything unique to a match. His acting is good.....but thats about it im afraid! How he has been given an IC title shot at Mania when there are ALOT of other wrestlers worthy I will never know.
Underrated
Ziggler - How is this guy not a World Champion yet?! Must really sting when he sees people like Daniel Bryan and Del Rio get a push when Ziggler consitently peforms, his gimmich is great, and his mic skills have improved massivley. I really do believe if WWE want to go with "the future" then Ziggler can head that.
Wade Barrett - This might be slightly controversial considering he was in the biggest angle for a good few years with The Nexus, BUT after that he has had to battle from the bottom up and hasnt really been given much of a feud or push since Nexus. Ok there was the Randy orton feud but still, we all knew how that was going to end up.
Cody Rhodes - Have to disagree with Mr H, like Siggler Cody has improved massivley, his mic skills have improved and is very consistent in the ring. A future World Champ and hopefully will be given a push after Mania

Big Show , like the previous post i cant understand why this guy contiunes to get so much time. he was only decent IMO when he was in WCW and in good shape. there are so many people that could procude a better IC match with Rhodes. I think my biggest let down this year was involving big show, watching the royal rumble anxiously counting down the number 30 entrance 3-2-1 beep.........WELL ITS THE BIG SHOW, do me a favour.
Jack Swagger , dont get me wrong, from what i have seen he has great mat skills but i just cant take him seriously. dont rate him on the mike and dont think he will ever make it back to main event.
Underrated
ziggler , for me this last year he has really improved in the ring and on the mike. i think he has a good gimmick and great ability, i think its time to ditch vikki, he should stay heel. I really enjoyed his title match with punk at the rumble.
Drew Mcintyre He seems popular with the IWC and think he deserves to at least be in the hunt for mid card titles. i think he still needs work and thinks he needs to improve his physique to be taken more seriously but still feel he is underrated at the moment
Kofi Kingston , he has great ring skills but for me he has to turn heel. from what i have seen when he grabs a mike he isnt bad, just think he will never be taken seriously as a babyface

Dolph Ziggler
I see he's decent, but I'm just fawning over him like the entire IWC seems to be at present. For me he's never going to be a guy that sells a show.
Randy Orton
He can't do face, his decent feuds only tend to be when there's someone lifting him. His one decent thing is the RKO.
Underrated
David Otunga
I actually really like his gimmick, sure his ring skills need a lot to desire but he's got a great gimmick going and I hope this brings him on.
Chris Jericho
Bit of a shock choice but this is based on how much groaning went on about him returning, for me I really enjoyed the comeback and think he's been excellent v Punk
Daniel Bryan
How can one of the IWC darlings and current Heavyweight Champ be Underated?
I just don't think we've given him enough credit for just how decent he's been as a champ with the opponents he's had to work with.

Sheamus - it may be just me, but I don't see him as a main eventer, and a Rumble winner. He's still the level below for me, and I don't think face suits him.
Big Show - too high up the card for me still. Has been a great servant and previously deserved his place on the card, but he hasn't offerred much at all since JeriShow.
Del Rio - as others have said, he is bland, and he doesn't make me want to watch his matches. I think he could do so much more with his character, but he just hasn't caught fire since he won the RR.
Underrated
Swagger - I've always been a fan, and I think a decent push would see him reach new heights. It just seems like they aren't behind him for whatever reason and he's languishing.
Santino - as Mr H said...
John Cena - pushing it a bit, I know, but in terms of fan ratings I don't think he quite gets a fair shake. Sells PPV's, consistently puts on watchable matches against whomever he faces, has ability on the mic and can be relied on to carry the belt.

The Big Show - Basically for all the reasons stated above, he's absolutely useless!
The Great Khali - Even him being on NXT would be a joke let alone Smackdown.
ADR - He's decent in the ring but 2x WWE Champion, Money In The Bank Winner, Royal Rumble winner, really? He is an incredible snooze fest. Don't see why the guy doesn't have a pin fall finisher
Underrated -
Drew McyIntyre - I love this bloke! Why he is still where he is I don't know. Incredibly brutal move set and a very believable character.
Dolph Ziggler - Again like stated above his ring work is fantastic and his mic skills are vastly improving. Want to see how much heat he can draw without Vickie.
Daniel Bryan - Can see the guy falling back down the stepping order after Mania and don't think thats right. As Hero said with the opponents he's worked with since his championship run he has been great. Exceptional in the ring and good at drawing heat.

Re: Todays Most Overated & Underated Superstars....
I wouldnt say Ziggler is under rated at all. I think WWE are doing well. Not point rushing it like they did Del Rio. Slow and steady wins the race. Keep Ziggler in a good run and have him win money in the bank in July.
Overrated
Alberto Del Rio - Never been a fan. His accent annoys me. He is so boring. His rings skills are not out of this world. Mid Card at best.
Under rated - Kofi Kingston. A big fan. Loved his feud with Orton back in late 2009. There is no harm in a push and see what happens from there really. Could work but could be a flop. Either way i dont think he deserves another boring mid card year.

Surprised no ones said Tyson Kidd as most under rated
Re: Todays Most Overated & Underated Superstars....
Thats a very good shout actually VDT. Tyson Kidd is very underated. His ring skills are not in doubt i think its just whether he could get himself over and hold the attention of the crowd on the stick.

If WWE had a light weight and/or a harecore title, he'd be such a draw! He's wasted wrestling larger guys!

Wade Barrett, he's a good talker, has a unique look (facially anyway) and seems to be one of those guys who comes across as being something, but blimey does his ring work just put me to sleep.
Randy Orton, needs to really go learn some more babyface match formulae because all he knows is to be dominant for 5 minutes or battered for 15 minutes then spring up with an RKO. Cena relies on these exact match plans too, but he can mix it up with Power Matches every so often.
Underrated:
Del Rio, seriously if this guy's push hadn't been so stop/start, I think a lot of people would view him differently. Go watch his defence against Punk at Survivor Series and tell me he can't wrestle. If he wins the title at Wrestlemania against Edge last year he is made, because all his destiny promos are suddenly prophetic.
Sheamus, I think the WWE are lucky because they almost tossed up his initial push. I'm so happy he got the Rumble win, its just a shame they couldn't have Henry retain until Mania. This guy while looking nothing like him, is the natural (and better) replacement for Batista in the Main Event scene.
Really wanted to say Dolph but I think he is quite rightly rated by most nowadays.

Re: Todays Most Overated & Underated Superstars....
Kennedy is overrated, the best thing about him was his entrance. Otherwise - dull. I am with Randy on this one
Overrated:
Rey Mysterio He is not for me, I find him boring. He may have been better years ago when he was in WCW or whatever but to me he is just blah...
Big Show The worst match I have ever seen live was Cena vs Big Show a couple of years ago, people were actually leaving as it was going on. He is just really dull and too big to do anything interesting. The best thing he did do was belt Rey against the ringpost when he was strapped to a stretcher.
John Cena Obvious reasons, lol
Underrated:
Daniel Bryan For me, currently, he is one of the most entertaining wrestlers. Brilliant promo's and great matches. Such a shame he got stuck working with Show and Henry for most of his title reign.
Wade Barrett Don't thing Wade gets enough credit, he is brilliant. Looking forward to his return in a few months time.
Jack SwaggerHe has great potential but nothing seems to happen with him. I enjoyed him as champ (not how he won it, that sucked) but I think he could do a lot more.

1) CM Punk - Yes he's very good but he's not as good as the IWC makes out. Since his program with Cena finished he's been boring and repetitive and hasn't made me want to become invested into his feuds.
2) The Rock - Remind me why he used to be a big star that I loved? Since returning his promos have sucked, his Rock Concert was a waste of time, he's more interested in getting stuff to trend.
3) Jeff Hardy - Can't believe no-one has mentioned him. His moveset is unbelievable, his punches look awful, he dresses like a teenage girl and yet TNA continue to push him like he's a big name.
---
Underated:
1) Randy Orton - By the IWC in general his face turn has been lambasted yet he continues to get monster pops and has out over Cody, Henry, Sheamus, Christian, Bryan and Barrett in the last 12 months. He is WWE's MVP right now.
2) Tyson Kidd - Why is he not in the US/IC title hunt? Why is he still on nXt? Why is he not being pushed to the moon?
3) Dolph Ziggler - Why he isn't in a big match at WM I'll never know. Quite simply the best in the world right now, his in ring work is SENSATIONAL!

Sin Cara, for me this guy absolutely sucks, botches too much and has no mic skills.
The Undertaker, sick to death of him, so draining on the mic and can barely go in the ring, been at the top for too long.
Big Show/Great Khali for obvious reasons, Big Show should only be used to put others over and Khali shouldn't even be on the roster.
Underrated:
Tyson Kidd, in my opinion he is THE best in ring technican in the WWE, just ahead of Bryan, disgustingly underused, shame he lacks a personality.
Drew Mcintyre, this guy gets it, he knows how to tell a story in the ring, has a brilliant intensity to him and can really sell emotion. Solid in the ring, decent moveset, and quite humerous on the mic, turn him face and give him a run with the IC/US belt again.
Randy Orton, agree with Gregers, sick of seeing him slated on here. He is fantastic, so smooth in the ring, can have a good match with anybody. Really feel the starpower with him as well, perfect look. His mic work ain't that bad, did work better when he was heel though. Doesn't deserve to be in a midcard match for the 3rd Mania in a row.

Re: Todays Most Overated & Underated Superstars....
Overated.
1. Kofi Kingston. This guy is plain crap. No mic skills, the finisher is the worst ever and Boom boom boom?!?! What is he Basil Brush or something? Every move he performs he tries with minimal impact to himself. Not even mid-card worthy in my opinion.
2. Alberto Del Rio. For so long now the WWE have tried replicating the 'Million Dollar Man' HHH had a minor punt at it and quickly underwent a massive character change to break away from it. There was JBL who for me was more about the personality than the wealth of the character and he was brilliant and had the mic skills to go with it. This guy is poor. The character doesn't work. Driving all the classic cars will do you nothing. Look at when JBL hired HBK. Brilliant angle. Up there with Ted Dibiase buying Sapphire and making his own belt. All were integral to the character. Del Rio has done nothing similar and the whole 'Destiny' is crap!
3. Hornswoggle. Say no more.
Underated
1. Christian. Since his return he has been mis-used by the WWE which is the worst crime for such a talent. When he was at TNA he was at his career best. How the WWE could nearly kill his career in 2 years is beyond belief. A WWE Champion and he should be top heel in the company.
2. Dolph Ziggler. He is actually coming along nicely and progressing very well. For me the WWE rushed him into the main event when he briefly feuded with Edge. Has the mic skills and move set to be a main eventer. I just hope that when he makes it to the main event that the WWE do no stuff it up like with previous others.
3. The Miz. For me the best mic worker in the brand. Does not get nearly enough credit. It is a disgrace how he has been pulled away from the main event picture. It was good that he was in the main event tag match at the Survivor Series. A face turn and feud with Bryan for me at Mania would be better than Sheamus.

Overrated-
Sheamus- The most overrated man in professional wrestling today. The IWC seem to love him, but he offers nothing for me. Not that good on the mic, his matches are usually boring, and his face promos are generic and unimaginative. The sad reality is this guy is probably going to be one of the WWE's top guys for years to come due to his friendship with Triple H, but he is not good enough to be in a world title match at WM imo. He's just big and strong, not particulary talented.
Dolph Ziggler- Another IWC favourite, and don't get me wrong, there's no denying his in-ring ability, but there's just something missing for me. Something about him just screams mid card and IC title. On the occasions that he has been in the main event picture, he just seems to have looked out of place. I honestly don't know what it is, whether it's Vickie Guerrero, or Swagger, or the way he's been booked, but there's something just not quite right.
Underrated-
John Cena- That's right, the enemy of the internet fans. Despite all that's been said about him, SuperCena, 5 moves of doom, etc. I still think Cena is a very naturally talented wrestler, it's creative that have forced him to have the same type of match where he gets constantly beaten up and then suddenly bounces back. He is capable of having very entertaining matches, shown vs Batista at WM 26, vs Orton at Bragging Rights 09 and most notably vs Punk at MitB last year. Like many others, though, I do hope he turns heel at WM, I think he needs the change.
The Miz- We all know what creative have thought of him recently, but I enjoyed Miz's main event title run last year and, unlike Ziggler, I think he looked completely natural there, and not out of place at all. Hopefully he'll be back in the main event picture soon.

UNDERATED
DANIEL BRYAN - fantastic as a heel, great in ring ability, needs to improve his mic work. But proving to be a solid dependable wrestler. Although i feel this will lead him to being in the same bracket as Christian in WWE's eyes.
RANDY ORTON - The guy has in the last year had great feuds with Christian, Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes. When in the mood pocesses it all, and has been solid and had fantastic matches since he's been in the WWE, yet still not as liked as others.
THE MIZ - for reasons mentioned above.

Mark Henry is also massively underrated. I love the in ring stuff he does, where he is screaming at his opponents as he is beating them. Also capable of putting on some good matches and some good spots.

2) The Rock - Remind me why he used to be a big star that I loved? Since returning his promos have sucked, his Rock Concert was a waste of time, he's more interested in getting stuff to trend.
Cena's beef has been that Rocky sold out, went Hollywood, is a Media stooge and a glad hander rather than the People's Champion.
Rock comes back and proceeds to amplify these very aspects of his character.
The WWE wants a 50-50 response at Wrestlemania, they clearly want Rock to elevate Cena.
