Congratulations to Wales. Poor decision making from France, they should have gone for the try and not points.

Well that's it then, you have to give it to Wales they were the best team on the pitch today.
Frnace were never really looking like they were controlling this match.

They have been much better today than they were against Ireland and England to be honest
I don't think so. Forwards have been marginally more competitive but there was no attempt to run the ball. They've got exactly what they deserved. They need to start Picamoles for some go forward, Parra and find a 10 who isn't Buexis (sp?). Also, their scrum is dramatically worse than last year.
Oh, and well done Wales!!

Good reffing too. Allowed the game to run but stuck to his guns.
That's why he's number 1. Thought France were much improved . At least in intensity. Their handling was still poor though.

Re: Wales vs France match discussion thread
Great win but not a great game as France kept it very tight. Our subs again were very good, the pack were very good apart from picking up at 8 again.
Well done France put up a much improved performance, stronger but more negative team but could have pinched a draw. Preistalnd was much better today but he is too deep and not getting the team going forward.

What a difference a move can make.
Mike Phillips was a laughing stock and finished before the world cup - now a move to France and he looks like a different player again.

in what way- every time they got a good position they dropped the ball! as you rightly say- they were completly clueless in attack, kept making the wrong decisions,They didnt have a dominant period of play that they could capitalize on. Yes they looked like they gave it 100% . just not good enough to beat a very good welsh side

Re: Wales vs France match discussion thread
Great game, I was nervous but despite that I never felt Wales wernt in control of the match or that France would sneak it.
Well done to everyone involved, Lydiate was massive, Ryan Jones and Faletau were immense, Ken Owens had an immediate impact. Everyone shifted their weight in this game and throughout the campaign.
Now get a series win in Australia and prove it wasn't a fluke.

Great work, totally deserved. Not as exciting as 05 & 08, but we won, frankly, without ever playing to our potential. Loads of mistakes today, plenty of room to get better.

No chance the Welsh squad for Australia will be decimated by injuries and players having a rest.

Re: Wales vs France match discussion thread
the other 3 NH teams can take out aus- and lets be honest this wales side could be the best nh side over the last few years- therefore they need to start winning against the sh, or there is something seriously wrong

Could not going for the posts at the end and increasing the margin of the win to 10 points have an effect on irb rankings?

I just wanted the ball out of play and for the game to end, screw the rankings we know were the best team in the nh this season.

I'm not thinking about bragging rights but about the end of the year results which will dictate the 2015 WC pools. Who knows what will happen on the tours and during the AIs. Every point counts this year.

Re: Wales vs France match discussion thread
the only thing thats annoying me now is this comparison with the 70s team, yes we matched their 3 grand slams, but we were nowhere near as consistent as they were, in between those slams we have been awful. Lets hope this time we can build on this.

What if the ball bounced back into play then gathered by a French player who runs the length of the field to score a try under the posts.
Correct decision was taken.

You need to win by 15 points to make a bigger marging of points for the IRB rankings

Congtas lads. Given the size of Englands win its just as well you didnt let that one slip.
The best side across the tournament as a whole, deserved champions.
