Congratulations on your sides fully deserved GS.
Dallaglio was commenting on the England game which they won. He isnt taking anything away from Wales. There are 6 teams involved after all and all deserve some comment. Rip LD all you like. Fact is no Welshman has ever achieved what he did in the game so the snide remarks are a low blow especially when you consider jiffys chat!

He was ask about the tournament as a whole. Hs did say that Wales was the best team of the 6ns and truly deserved their Grand Slam.

He made his comment about England and how far they have come since the RWC, and that winning 4 out of 5 games, and only losing to a very good Welsh side. Is a great achievment for this England team.

Wales won a Grand Slam so just enjoy it, and lets see if, if Wales can improve on this in the summer tours.

While not prepared to be as vocal as others who've bitten back, I'd suggest ever so politely that you do seem to have over-reacted and missed the bigger picture here. LD's whole comment was a compliment to Wales. He was asked for his summary of the 6N, so paid full and due tribute to Wales and their Grand Slam, then said that the big story - ie the most noteworthy and surprising development - of the 6N was England's sudden turnaround in fortunes. In sum, the Welsh Grand Slam was less of a surprise than England's 2nd place.

I think he's right. It is more a story that an absolute shower of a set up turned itself around in this way than it is that the best side in the N Hemisphere on paper before the 6N confirmed that position with a GS. The latter comment does not in any way denigrate the achievement of a Welsh GS.

By the way, what the hell were you doing watching the post mortem of the England-Ireland game? If you are a true Welshman, you should have been paralytically drunk and unable to focus on a TV screen by then.

Taffineastbourne - Dayglo is bright - I've spoken to him. And as someone who achieved more in the game than any player from any other 6N country ever has, his views in their full context deserve to be taken seriously. The inference of your comment however that his being English is in itself part of his flawed makeup tells us more about you than him and is not worthy of the majority of sensible Welsh posters on this board. You'd do well to follow their example.

Simon,trust me he is not bright,at least not by my standards.He is jingoistic in extremis.Back-handed compliments should be dismissed for what they are.Ungracious and a part of the English slanted British media machine.As an exercise,just read every British newspaper and listen to every British radio broadcast since the outset of the 6N's and you might begin to understand whence I come.Any sensible English poster could grasp what appears to have eluded you.

Taffineastbourne - the paper I read (the 20p 'i' thing) has very good coverage of all 6 of the 6 Nations and had a couple of particularly good GS-eve pieces on Wales these past couple of days, so I can't really relate to this massive pro-English bias thing, though I respect your right to feel so heated about it if that's the way you see it. Maybe decaff and a subscription to the Western Mail would help?
