Congratulations to Federer Empty Congratulations to Federer

Post by amritia3ee Sun 18 Mar 2012, 3:09 am

I would like to congratulate Federer on a great performance today. He played super tennis right the way through, and sealed the match with 1 break extra each set. This now means he had won 3 tournaments in a row, a great achievement for him. clap

Of course I was a tad disappointed as a Rafa fan (and no Jeremy I wasnt crying Wink) but not distraught. Federer played a great match, and it was definitely a better encounter for Nadal than his last bestof3 match against Federer. Grand Slams, as we know, is another ball game. Nadal showed fight and spirit to fight back from 5-2 down 2nd set but today it wasn't enough.
Fed also dealt with the match point rain delay magnificently. Ok! He fully deserved the win today, a credit to the sport and his fans.

Credit to sport and he did play a great match. Can't take any joy from his fans though, a certain faction of them have to be the most annoying in the history of sports.

Nadal was unlucky with the windy conditions today Amritia he is playing much better than he was before and I know he will get wins over Djokovic either in Miami or when the clay comes!

Lol let's not blame the wind here, it was a Fed masterclass.
Still not a bad week for me, Novak looks more vulnerable and Roger beating Nadal in a bestof3 doesn't necessarily mean he'll do so in slams.

Credit to you Amiritia after the abuse you take from the Fed fans on this site. Good job congratulating federer. I am not as good a sport as you are.

Amirtia, why didn't Roger get tired after a set of play on the blue clay today? I am perplexed and am looking for an answer to that riddle.

Thankyou Social,
I never believed Tenez's theory anyway, this match doesn't change anything for me.

I wish that a certain segment of Fed fans could learn from you and actually just give credit to the better man on the day. After Isner won I didn't accuse his parents of giving him growth hormones, or blame the wind or whatever.

Isner played great and deserved the win. Roger played great and deserved the win. Wouldn't it be nice if a certain segment of fed extremists could one time, one time actually do the same.

Which implies that you value the opinion of such 'extremist' fans in the first place, which is an oxymoron.

My great-grandfather, on his last visit, offered his apologies to every person he could personally visit. He also said that 'expectation always leads to disappointment'. We expect, hence we are disappointed. Wink

Should we have a separate thread to discuss your questions, without the effort that you are making to ask it on quite a few threads tonight. Wink

No Laverfan, like you said, there really is no point in caring what they think. But it is fun to rain on their parade and give some of it back to them.

Fill in the blank Roger v _______________(anyone) I am going for anyone but Roger, period. Is that remorseful enough. Maybe the people who character assassinate other tennis champions, pretend that Roger loses because of exhaustion due to unfairly slowed conditions or that Roger's opponents are either doped up, cheating, or boring should show some remorse. When they show remorse, I might till then they can reap what they sow.

Your sportiveness appreciated Amrit clap , Kinda strange match, Fed did play an awesome game but he for some reason never panicked today which he does most times against Rafa, tats the main reason for win.

I would certainly love a close competition among the three and would like to see them change numbers at the top regularly this year.

Full congratulations to Roger Federer - a superb display and a fully deserved win. It must be a real shot in his arm of confidence and self-belief after so many losses against Rafael Nadal. He is currently the form player in the world and will now feel he does have a chance of regaining that No.1 slot if he can keep these sort of results rolling in. For Nadal it wasn't a terrible tournament but it is a loss that will feed the seeds of doubt that must be in his mind just now following a number of key match defeats. It wasn't the Nadal of old but perhaps Federer never allowed that player to surface. However, it does beggar the question of what happened to Tenez's physicality factor? In one of the last points in the match we saw Federer gring out a long 20+ shot rally and win the point so he can and did do it and backs up what I have thought that it is a myth but may post my theories in a later post. Once again well done Federer and commiserations Rafa.

Craig I have asked the same question over and over again yet to get get a good answer from the fed fans. Why exactly didn't rafa grind federer into exhaustion within one set as proclaimed by a certain someone on this site. I mean afterall they were playing on blue clay and the talentless moonballer was out there as usual.

There is a glimpse of what we already probably knew. Tennis.com has an article about how doubts have played in Roger's mind in the past. I do hope it is past and future holds more great matches between these two giants. We are lucky to ave such great rivalry in front of us for such a length of time. Let us cherish these few months to a couple of more years at most so.

Yes indeed Manoj.
I still think Nadal can win Miami. He still has te ability to beat fed in BO3 matches, and Djokovic is faltering.

Social, you'll never get an answer to a question based on myths other than more myths. The arrogance behind the assertions is impermeable to changes of opinion in the light of so much contrary evidence.

I think Nadal is still a little match rusty from the break and didn't handle the wind at all well but Federer played a great match and is on the crest of a form wave at the moment.

Nadal always says the right things and more important than that I think he believes them. That is as much as part of his success as his heavy topspin forehand.
