Released Hougaard to return to Blue Bulls

Hougaard always looked surplus to requirements at Sarries given his injury issues, not insubstantial wages and third choice position in the pecking order. A return to Pretoria and the Blue Bulls where he first emerged seems to be on the cards but what do any Bulls fans make of this? Surely with Morne Steyn owning the 10 jersey the Bulls don't need another kick happy play maker do they?

Sarries had negotiated his salary downwards - after the period we were supplementing his wages ended.

I do feel sorry for the lad. He followed Meyer to Welford Rd, and all of a sudden his mentor was gone. Add to that the injuries and his English adventure turned into a nightmare.

Well I'd have hoped so LT we were paying him more than he was worth if you believe the paper talk at the time. Great kicker but defensively iffy and little in the way of skill ball in hand. His ability to slot a drop goal almost anywhere in the opponents half was pretty damn classy though.
