Something to make Scotland fans feel better
Very much liked this piece of news in the Torygraph:
"Manchester end unwanted losing league record
Manchester ended the longest losing sequence in the 25 years of league rugby in England with a 25-17 win over Old Northamptonians in a National Three Midlands relegation tussle at Grove Park on Saturday.
It halted a run of 87 consecutive league defeats that stretched back to March 14, 2009, during which Manchester had conceded more than 6,000 points while scoring fewer than 600 themselves.
During their three-year barren spell Manchester had conceded 50 or more points on 57 occasions, including 13 by 100 points or more.
Saturday’s win, secured by 14 points from full-back Matt Raybould, is unlikely to save Manchester from a fourth consecutive relegation.
The problems began in 2009 when Manchester were relegated from England’s second tier and suffered a reduction in Rugby Football Union funding, a loss of sponsorship and an exodus of players.
Manchester opted to find their level with a purely amateur squad and they had been in freefall until South African Getty Schinkel joined them from Burnley as their coach in January.
“Anyone can do it once, the test is whether we can do it again,” he said."
Apparently Andy Robinson was quoted as saying he thought the club "was showing improvement" and definitely "on the right track".

Scotland would be stuffed if the stattos ever distinguish between line breaks where you break the line horizontally (i.e. pelt towards the touchline passing without committing your man) rather than vertically (i.e. you actually run forwards).
