I don't think any are freakish, but there are some class players in that group.
North, Cuthbert an Gray are the young ones I rate.

I'll tell you what, when he gets to 8 foot tall, he'll be freakish.
By the way, I rate Cuthbert higher than North.

Personally I think you rate him because he scored more tries than North in the 6N.
North was amazing v Ireland and then he did a lot of unseen work. Cuthbert has some moments of individual attacking brilliance but he is not as complete as North, yet.
Cuthbert didnt play well for the Blues last night either.

Where is Dusatoir on your list? He is a tackling freak.
Also Gavin Henson. I'll leave you to interpret how I interpreted ridiculously freakish.

They are all quality players but Lydiate stands out for me for his no nonsense get on with it attitude.
He is the one that gave Wales the platform for many turnovers we had he is fearless while tackling.

Got to be Ferris for me. The things he does are not normal even for a pro rugby player

Has to be Manu. At 19 he was running over people and at 20 he he was injuring a Lion veteran, David Wallace. Mind you North would be there aswell but I still think that Manu is more of a freak.

Understand where you're coming from, but at the same time, Manu isn't relaly a freak ebcause he's one of about 6 good strong players whereas North is a one off monstrosity.

Yeah but has North injured a grizzled competitor and relished hits against people sometimes 10 years his senior. I think not. But I did mention North. He is more of an athletic freak then Manu but Manu is a freak because of his age.

Re: Most ridiculously freakish player in the NH?
Injuries aren't a fair reflection of athletic ability. It depends on angles and the player in question. I've seen people injured by scrumhalves before. Also, North is younger the Manu.

George North - built like a tank at 19. Most capped teenage in history because he is a physical freak.

I never mentioned injuries, Manu was more a freak because of his impact against people much older then him.

If injuries you want then you are not watching rugby for the right reasons

I was talking about injuries to Manu or North Plus I said that North is more of an athletic freak then Manu but Manu is more of a freak because of the impact he has had on other players despite his age.

I think North has had as big an impact as Tuilagi on other players, ask Ireland. Or Farrell!!

Farrell is not much older then North though. And I have to concede as an Irish man North's creating of Davies' try was amazing.

Re: Most ridiculously freakish player in the NH?
North, Gray and SOB lead the way in terms of build and strength. O'Brien maybe not so much now but for Leinster and in NZ he looked scary in the tight, especially against Oz.
BOD and Warbs in terms of leadership and maturity from such a young age. BOD in his early career looked a lot like Sam does now, eerily calm and composed with so little experience. Maybe too early to say this about Warbs but look and act like natural born leaders.

Re: Most ridiculously freakish player in the NH?
North and Gray are just freaks of nature but for me it would be reasons unlike most!
Norths agility is up there with Shane williams, his centre of gravity is below his knees, and his acceleration / deceleration rate is some of the highest testing scores Ive ever seen!
Grays foot speed is unreal. His stride length / rate equation is just rediculous. Someone with those levers shouldn't be able to be that explosive!

North is the freak. Not because of his size, but because he would rather be welsh than english!

Croft's pace is definitely freakish - he'd give many outside backs a run for their money over 50-60 metres.

Has to be Tony Buckley - has managed to represent Ireland a whopping 25 times despite no discernible talent of any kind.
Its really freaky.

Re: Most ridiculously freakish player in the NH?
There are no more freaks in rugby, they are all freaks, hence no more freaks. A freak would be someone out of the ordinary, someone being 8 foot tall and weiginh 140 kg's would be a freak, everyone these days weigh 100+ kio's can run fast, benches 150 kg's
If you want to see a freak fo nature you should look at someone weighing 75kg's and can still hold his own in professional rugby.

How can someone with so freakishly little talent become a professional sportsman?

Well said Biltong, and interesting point. Funny that the word 'freak' has become synomymous with gargantuan size and strength
