If you're struggling to find players for your squad, use www.transfermarkt.co.uk and search for players from your country, it should give you several options for your squad.
Each country is allowed to call up a maximum of FOUR legends from days gone by (seeing as it's a fantasy tournament).
The definite rule on Legends.
Players who are currently still active can be called up as legends, but it will take up one of your 4 legends spaces. Also the four legends in your squad must be labelled as legends to signify they are your four legends in their prime. I agree that it might be better if it was purely players who had retired, but I will leave the rule open so anyone could choose someone from years gone by or recent times. It widens the pool of players to be honest.
For example, Thierry Henry would be the guy running around the MLS, but Thierry Henry (Legend) would be the guy in his prime at Arsenal. And no, you can't have two of the same player (one as legend and one as normal) as that would be stupid.

- Spoiler:
- Seeing as it's little over 2 months until the real thing, just wondering who'd be interested in taking part in a fantasy version of the tournament?
Basically, 16 countries are taking part, so if we get 16 participants (myself plus 15) we all get randomly assigned a country, pick our own 23 man squad for that country, then we play out the real fixtures for the Tournament.
You write out your starting XI, short tactics and substitutions and the fixtures will be voted on by everyone not in the same group, ie if you're in Group A you only need to vote on Groups B, C and D.
Pre-existing suspensions do not affect who you can pick, ie Rooney available for England, Toulalan and Anelka available for France, etc.
Transfers between countries are not permitted.
Quarter finals/semi finals/final will be voted on by anyone who isn't in that tie.
So, who's in?

Hero's right, without checking, Rafael would qualify but Fabio wouldn't.

Dont underestimate Ukraine. They are so good they qualified for the finals without even playing a match! That is how good they are.

What about players that are still playing but are retired from international footie like Del Piero? They could in theory make a return

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
As they haven't played for their other national team in a competitive fixture and qualify for Italy, you could have;
Inter Milan's Mauro Zarate (Argentinian)
Valencia's Pablo Piatti (Argentinian)
And possibly Mateo Musacchio (Argentinian) and Diego Alves (Brazilian)

Ukraine have announced a shock change of manager who plans to lead them to glory at Euro 2012.
Ivor Nastychestycov is now at the helm and will get to work on a set of unstoppable tactics.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
Within your 23 man squad you can have up to 4 legends, i.e. players who have retired. So England could have Shearer for example.

Basically your 23 man squad is allowed to have up to 4 "legends" AKA players from the past who played for your country. For example my Croatia side has Davor Suker and Slaven Bilic.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
With this legends thing it means the player is at their prime I presume.
But if you instead bring back a player who has officially retired but still plays at a club level would they be considered in their prime or in their twilight?

If they're not being brought back as legends then they would be as they are now.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
I wouldn't have thought so, not if they are still playing.
Scholes would be the Scholes of now, not the Scholes of 10yrs ago.

Yeah. Theoretically you could bring in Raul as one of your 4 legends and he'd be in his prime, or pick him as he is as a normal squad player.

Legends should be considered that providing they have retired. So Raul would be the Raul who plays for Schalke, not the Real Madrid icon.

Well they don't qualify as a legend then surely?
If Raul is still playing and still eligible for Spain he shouldn't be considered a legend.

Im with Beer on this one.
shevchenko isn't in the main squad for Ukraine, but is eligible for call up as he is still playing domestic football. I dont think it would be fair to have the Chev of before his Chelsea days when he was banging them in for Milan every week.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
Why not though, Raul is a legend, Henry is, Carvahlo is.
Why should they not be considered just because they're still playing?
What if you have a player that then comes out of retirement in your rules of legends ala Scholes?
Do you then lose him?
Surely just allow people to have whichever 4 guys as legends as long as they at somepoint played for that country?
