If you're struggling to find players for your squad, use www.transfermarkt.co.uk and search for players from your country, it should give you several options for your squad.
Each country is allowed to call up a maximum of FOUR legends from days gone by (seeing as it's a fantasy tournament).
The definite rule on Legends.
Players who are currently still active can be called up as legends, but it will take up one of your 4 legends spaces. Also the four legends in your squad must be labelled as legends to signify they are your four legends in their prime. I agree that it might be better if it was purely players who had retired, but I will leave the rule open so anyone could choose someone from years gone by or recent times. It widens the pool of players to be honest.
For example, Thierry Henry would be the guy running around the MLS, but Thierry Henry (Legend) would be the guy in his prime at Arsenal. And no, you can't have two of the same player (one as legend and one as normal) as that would be stupid.

Week 6
Final - Germany 2-1 Italy (Ozil, Klinsmann) (Balotelli)
- Spoiler:
- Seeing as it's little over 2 months until the real thing, just wondering who'd be interested in taking part in a fantasy version of the tournament?
Basically, 16 countries are taking part, so if we get 16 participants (myself plus 15) we all get randomly assigned a country, pick our own 23 man squad for that country, then we play out the real fixtures for the Tournament.
You write out your starting XI, short tactics and substitutions and the fixtures will be voted on by everyone not in the same group, ie if you're in Group A you only need to vote on Groups B, C and D.
Pre-existing suspensions do not affect who you can pick, ie Rooney available for England, Toulalan and Anelka available for France, etc.
Transfers between countries are not permitted.
Quarter finals/semi finals/final will be voted on by anyone who isn't in that tie.
So, who's in?

shevchenko isn't in the main squad for Ukraine, but is eligible for call up as he is still playing domestic football. I dont think it would be fair to have the Chev of before his Chelsea days when he was banging them in for Milan every week.
Why not?
So if a player retired last year then you can do what you want with them as a legend as a 28 year old god.
If a player is due to retire at the end of this season then you're stuck with a 39 year old who's a shadow of his former self?

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
It comes down to the definition of "Legend"
I would define it as someone retired from domestic & international football.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
If anything it should be me petitioning for this as I have no legends and would benefit from a prime Shev. But I dont think its fair. Legends should be retired from the game all together.Hero wrote:Gav wrote:Im with Beer on this one.

Why should they not be considered just because they're still playing?
What if you have a player that then comes out of retirement in your rules of legends ala Scholes?
Do you then lose him?
Surely just allow people to have whichever 4 guys as legends as long as they at somepoint played for that country?
No, that would be an exception and be treated as such.
The whole point of legends was to mix it up, see a German team with Beckenbauer in it. Bobby Moore alongside John Terry.
If a player is still playing then they are still eligible for their country and therefore not considered to have legend status. That's how i think it should be.
It's Marky who decides anyway.

But not Henry?
It really makes no sense.

Thuram, Viera, Petit, Zindane, Lizarazu, Blanc, Papin, Platini, Barthez, Kopa, Fontaine, Deschamps, Desailly.
Plenty of legends who have retired.
One player doesn't change the rules.

As long as Frank De Boer is there sodhat then you've done fine
English legends, i'd say Stuart Pearce at LB, Bryan Robson in midfield, and Teddy Sheringham should be considered.

No Frank De Boer I'm afraid. I went for Jaap Stam at the back instead because I saw more of him. I could have had Koeman or Rijkaard as well but I reckon Stam will be rated.

I would've gone for Van Basten over Gullit, and wasn't Gullit a CB?

Thing was I would normally take van Basten anytime, but with van Persie having the season he is and having Huntelaar able to back him up as an out and out striker I thought I'd take more or a secondary striker in Bergkamp.
Gullit moved further back through his career but I'd intend to play him CM/AM.

To be honest olly no-one would be able to rate him as no-one here has ever seen him play.
Bobby Charlton's opinion might be worth a lot, but it's not the same as seeing someone for yourself.

That was back in the days when you could play for more than one nation - he was capped by Spain so I'd say you can take him.
