Man City fined £25k by UEFA
UEFA have just fined Manchester City £25k for not coming onto the field of play in time for their match against Sporting Lisbon. From memory they came out 2 minutes late.
How can UEFA justify this they only fined Porto £17k for the racist abuse Mario Balotelli received and Porto tried to deny it.

Presumably the pressure from TV Companies, who lost out on two minutes of advertising. They didn't lose any advertising when Balotelli was racially abused. Sad but true.

They would have just cut their analysis short by a couple of minutes post match surely?

I think it's a more likely explanation than racism towards the English.

Man that is nuts. Surely it cant be the case of advertisers not getting enough advertising? Like FreekShow wrote, they could have cut the Analysis short by 2 minutes as opposed to whacking them with a fine 8K more than a racial one. Has the world really come to this????

If City had enough balls they'd refuse to pay and issue a statement to all media outlets stating that they are willing to pay a fair fine, which obviously would be about 10% of any fine dished out to clubs who've been found guilty of racist chanting.
UEFA are just as bad as the FA or FIFA, they demand respect, introduce 'kick out racism' initiatives, then when racism occurs they do bugger all about it, if it wasn't such a hypocritical and degrading thing to do, it would be comedy gold.

To be fair to the FA they took a big step when they banned Suarez but lets see if they act as strongly if Terry is found guilty over the summer
FIFA went and awarded the World Cup to Russia which is racist to the core and Qatar who are blatantly homophobic and repressive to women

To be honest about the Suarez saga though, the FA totally effed up with that one, Suarez deserved a ban, that is obvious, but the rest of the case left a vile taste in the mouth, which sadly is common with much that goes on at the FA.marty2086 wrote:ReallyReal wrote:If City had enough balls they'd refuse to pay and issue a statement to all media outlets stating that they are willing to pay a fair fine, which obviously would be about 10% of any fine dished out to clubs who've been found guilty of racist chanting.

FIFA are simply money-grabbing hypocrits and clearly after the fines handed out by UEFA, they're no different, I maintain my view on the fine for City, refuse to pay it and tell everyone why.

What element of the Suarez case did it for you?
The problem is that Im sure Portugal like most countries, and with their history of colonies, have pretty strong anti racism laws making it a criminal offence. So arriving 1 minute late onto the pitch is worse than breaking the law?
Fining multi million dollar corporations £25k is pitiful clubs need to be properly bitch slapped rather than the slap on the wrist UEFA hand out

How did the FA eff up with that one??! He deserved a ban, he got a ban. Liverpool and Kenny's handling of the situation was absymal but that's nothing to do with the FA.
