2 and 1 win against multiple Club Champ winner.
Nice and steady all the way through, 2 long putts for a half, although a couple of lapses in there meant match went on longer than it might have.
Incredibly windy, Forecast for Friday similar with less wind.

Got another club in Fife Sand.
Semi tonight. Feeling confident. Focussing on keeping a smooth swing and hitting middle of greens.

Fluked my way through to the final. 6 holes on the trot. Didn't deserve it really, but I will take it.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
Well done Super, best of luck in the final.
Medal for me today, which was always going to be a bit risky given my recent form - I've hit buffer in my last couple of stablefords despite 3 blobs. Pretty much the same today in the p1ssing rain and thunder - 2 trebles and a double but kept it reasonable otherwise so with one of the trebles being on a non-shot hole I should scrape buffer again! Wettest I've been on a golf course for a while though, typical midsummer weather!

Re: Tell us about your game today...
Played the Longniddry Open yesterday.
Considering I hadn't played Longniddry for 30 years, I was quietly surprised at recognising all the holes.
Even more surprised that I shot a 76 gross, a Net 64.
Only to lose on count back, to the only other person to shoot that score.
shot of the day: drive drifted into the trees at 13. pulled out 3 recovery just to knock it out to the fairway. Hardly swung it above my knees, flushed it right out of the middle & it ran over 130yds & on to the green. Sometimes you just get lucky.
Won £80 for 2nd place + £60 for sweep.

Well Chaps, I did it. Played a blinding first 18 and got a good grip on the match. 5 birdies in the first 18 and a solid second round secured a 5 &4 win.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
Well, what a game...
Sublime to the ridiculous.
Bogeyed 2 to put me 1 over before my most remarkable run in a positive sense followed by a remarkable run in a negative sense and a final, resounding act of stupidity after a couple of dreaded pipes.
Birdied 3
Parred 4 (good up and down)
Birdied 5
Parred 6 (good up and down)
Birdied 7
Parred 8 (regulation 2 putt)
Birdied 9 (putt in from off green)
Birdied 10
Parred 11 (good up and down)
13 putts in 11 holes and 4 under par on the 12th tee. What could possibly go wrong...
Left myself a 5 footer for par on 12. Missed it, and the one back. Double.
3 putted 13 for bogey.
Up and down on 14 for par, regulation par on 15, ship steadied...
Huge slap right of par 3 16th, just missed up and down.
PIPE approach on 17, just missed up and down.
PIPE AGAIN on 18 put recovery to 2 foot only to miss. Bogey.
Brain fart on card, thought 18 was a double, signed for +3 (net -3) woke up Sunday morning and realised. Idiot. so the 2 footer (and elementary maths) on the last cost me the win.
-4 won (4 people had it), so I would expect to be devastated, but not really. A tad annoyed at throwing away such an amazing start (and middle) but know it happens in this game. Taking confidence out of it that I can get low! Fortunately (ahem) my back 9 wouldn't have been good enough for the countback, so my golfing collapse had already cost me before my mental collapse compounded it! Lowest gross tempers it slightly and a slight cut (0.2 to 5.3) is always nice.
The archetypal "what could have been"

Medal yesterday. Two lost balls due to two sh**ks. But still managed to get inside the buffer. So was pleased with the general level of play.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
Not my round, but involved in scoring for Open Qualifier at Remedy Oak today. Good scoring (2 under qualified) and good crop of Ams playing well. Imagine though, one Am stood on 14th tee 3 under par, and one short brain phart later is right out of it, and finishes 6 over! Learning experience or demoralising, only time will tell - but, albeit in lesser circumstances, we've all been there. Great game eh?

will your family be taking cuttings from the newspapers which announce your success for posterity?
Have you been taken out for a celebratory meal and drinks be your friends and family yet? I hope this achievement has been properly celebrated?

Don't be ridiculous Mac, Whilst I'm pleased to win it and it's given me some good memories, it is in effect, nothing more than a game of golf (or a week of golf, in which I prevailed). It isn't something worthy of much celebration or ceremony, and I won't be trying to dine off it or force those close to me to give me some sort of recognition for it.
It's simply a personal "achievement" for want of a better phrase.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
I imagine your friends and family are rather proud of you and would enjoy sharing your success. I don't think a small celebration to allow those close to you to share their feelings about your win is ridiculous. I actually think this board should do something to commemorate the occasion. As far as I know the only other club champ in our ranks was GW many years ago. This is a big moment in your life and you shouldn't shy away from enjoying it.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
Mac, I sense a large portion of sarcasm and ridicule.
It's not something I consider to be massively important in my life. I won something that amounts to no more than a local club golf competition. Not life changing or really impressive. I'm sure a great many of us have done something similar, if not in golf, then some other sport or past time.
OK, in terms of my golf, it's one of the highlights on a personal level, but not exactly something I'd rush to celebrate.
The biggest satisfaction for me was not so much the winning, but the way in which I played.

Re: Tell us about your game today...
My last post was genuine and I do think winning your club champs is something to value given the amount of time you and the rest of us dedicate to the game. It is certainly worthy of at least popping the cork of a few bottles of fizz with some close friends.
I won a few relatively big local junior titles and my parents still have some of the medals hanging around the house. I am pretty sure there is a newspaper cutting stashed away somewhere as well. You shouldn't underestimate how much your success means to your family despite what you think about "only" winning a club championship.
