Re: Gatland comes a cropper!
That's really nasty. Hope he pulls through. My in-law fell through a conservatory roof while he was taking it apart and he had to have one heel reconstructed. It's never healed properly and he still walks with a limp. Not sure how it would have been with both heels.
EDIT: Just read the full report and it sounds like only one heel is really bad.

Still, a fair while before he is able to manage even crutches.
Just thankful he didn't land on his head or neck.

You'd think that with his salary he could have afforded a window cleaner. This attitude amongst the well off and the middle class is exacerbating the crisis we face. Spend and spend not save and save. Shame on you Gatland. Your thriftiness has been your downfall. Splash out a little and help out the economy in the future. May this be a warning for you

Sounds really painful - hopefully he recovers fully - both heel bones broken, but one of them needs reconstruction surgery!

Totally agree. You would think that given he is away from his family for months on end he would want to spend as much time with them as possible not clean the windows. Unless Mrs Gatland has a list of domestic chores for him do to as soon as he gets home ....

He's no footballer and she's no WAG. He's always there for stuff at the kids' school too. Don't know how he does it

Re: Gatland comes a cropper!
I guess to some, in a highly paid yet highly stressful job, cleaning windows on your own home is the same as soaking up the rays on a deckchair....if you can find one that is, given the Germans are always traditionally hanging around any beach with a deckchair ready to throw a towel on it at 5 in the morning!
I know which of those I'd consider the real holiday. Give me the bucket of suds any day. I'd assume Gatland was enjoying himself up on the ladder, until he wasn't on it anymore.
Anyway, I hope he makes a full recovery obviously... meaning I hope he achieves a pain free return to mobility in time.

Well, there is a selection dilemma at lock for Wales, so im sure he could borrow a couple to clean his windows - don't trust ladders when you can have Charteris.

I'm a Wales supporter, but more importantly a rugby fan for nearly 60 years.
I hope Gatland makes a complete recovery. The pain when he had the accident must have been excruciating.

Re: Gatland comes a cropper!
I think its one of those situations where it is the responsibility of the ladder holder to gently restore the window cleaner to his feet on the ground, and ensure he suffers no injury, and he doesnt spill his water.
I reckon Hansen will get 20 weeks for this.

I doubt he'll get anything. There was no official on site to issue the White Card...

Mrs Gatland has said she has doubts as to whether Warren will be available for day-to-day duty this summer

Re: Gatland comes a cropper!
Had a mate at work do the same thing (but he was jumping off walls) a while back, he was told he would be off his feet for atleast 12 weeks, but was on the more after about 4-5 weeks. Had to move himself around on an office chair for a while.
To be honest seeing as Gats is a fair bit older than my mate, and his job will require a fair bit of being on his feet, walking arounded etc, I doubt he would make it to the Aus tour.

Re: Gatland comes a cropper!
Well what an awful couple of weeks this has been for Welsh rugby. Good thing it coincides with my little holiday when I can get buzzed enough on a daily basis not to worry so much.
Hope he makes the tour and, more importantly, gets out of surgery fully recovered and with no lasting effects.

I hope he gets well soon.
I find it interesting at times like this we see the brown nose boys within the Welsh team showing themselves by talking to the Welsh press about Gatland, I can think of some guys Gatland would not like to hold the ladder.
