Why's it though how the player would then be in the Premier league?
This isn't the Premier League.
Do many homegrown players from the Premier league go onto become big stars in other leagues?

Because most of us are English, therefore the majority believe the Premier League to be the best league in the world. I'd suggest out of 100 Germans, 95%+ would say the Bundesliga is the best league in the world. Out of 100 Spaniards, 95%+ would say La Liga is the best league in the world.

Only a minority outside of Holland would rate the Eredivisie as a good league. That's just how it is.

Don't think it's that so much. I think it's more that the perception of the league they play in is that it is weak, rightly or wrongly. Add to that that many people probably don't see much Heerenveen and it suggests he may not get rated.

I rate him personally though, because I wanted to sign him. I'd be lying if I didn't consider he'd get poo-pooed like some of Fan's team though.

I could play Matias Suarez of Anderlecht and he won't get voted for despite 18 goals and 22 assists this season due to what league he plays in. Been linked with plenty of top clubs but until he moves he wont get rated which is most likely the same issue Dost will have.

We've got players in the Norweigan, Swiss, Belgian, Greek and Brazilian league playing too.

Actually, what you should do is wear a suit, sunglasses (whatever the weather) and always be on the phone, then when Olly walks off the pitch towards you, congratulate him on his performance then ignore him. People will think you're his agent.

I don't mean they're not rated. I mean they're not rated as highly as players from those leagues. Doesn't mean they're not good players. I signed John Guidetti and Dries Mertens today, both playing in the Dutch league at the moment, but they wont be rated as highly as other players until they play in a better league. Although playing in the Europa League/Champions League helps the ones at the bigger clubs.

You've missed the point. I didn't say these players weren't rated by me, I mean they wont be rated by others until they play in a better league.

I'm hoping Mertens has a good European campaign next season/moves to a bigger league, and Guidetti gets a chance at Man City.

Good result for Chelsea and they played well.

Fabragas was absolute pants. Barcelona was much better when Pedro and Thiago came on.

Fabregas was always a big fish in a small pond at Arsenal.

He's a very good player, but he's not a Barcelona level of player.

I think they were strangled full stop. Fab should have scored but he was at least causing problems and getting postions to score.

Terry and Cahill were both immense and so was Ashley Cole come to think of it.

I had a massive grin when Busquets missed that chance in stoppage time. I hate him with a fervent passion.

I think that's a bit harsh. He's had a good season at Barca, and he's mainly playing in positions completely removed from what he was used to at Arsenal.

Morning.

my 2 cents - way I see it is players in the dutch league wont get rated as highly due to the league they play in and the fact they dont play against some of the worlds best players week in week out.

Nando mentioned Matias Suarez. Yes he has a great record but its the league he plays in. Lets be honest, Negredo has 10/12 goals in La Liga but will be rated high. Why? Because he plays in La Liga and those 11 goals were scored against better opposition than the 18 Suarez scored.

The likes of Eriksen, Vertonghen, VDW, Mertens, Strootman, Sulejmani, Alderweid are probably over rated by people. My personal opinion, Eriksen & Vertonghen are better players, havent proven it against the best tho so Id rarther have Ozil as my AM than Eriksen, Mexes as my CB than Vertonghen. The rest of that list of Dutch league players are just decent, good at most. Thats my personal opinon, other may not share the same.

I think you should approch construction of your team like you would with your FIFA Ultimate team.
I did a all German Bundesliga team, but when it come to trading, my players just dont sell. Most Ultimate teams are Premier League and La Liga based. Why? Because these player are more commonly knowen to people therefore better rated by people.

All my opinion BTW.

Nick, bang on. If those players moved to the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga or Serie A and performed then they would be much more rated than they are now.

I happen to rate a lot of those players, but i'd be in the minority.

But don't forget playing in the Champions League and Europa League for their clubs will help their rating.

I never said Fabregas didn't have a good season, Thierry Henry had very good stats from his time at Barca, so did Ibrahimovic. But neither were Barcelona's style of players. And neither is Fabregas. That's not to say he won't become one, bearing in mind he's still in his early 20's.

I do believe that if he was good enough as a teenager, he wouldn't have joined Arsenal back in the day. Iniesta and Messi went through the Barca system and Fabregas left. Does that not suggest anything?

It suggests mostly that Wenger got his claws in early and tempted him away with the promise of football that he didn't think he'd get at Barca. As I recall Barca were upset that he left - what speaks volumes to me is that they paid £35m to bring him back. When they already had Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi and Thiago.

I think Fab is a Barca style player and I think he'll be a key component for them for some time. He's still young too.

Defenders aren't Barcelona's style of play either, hence they play Mascherano or Busquets at CB so often Wink

But don't forget playing in the Champions League and Europa League for their clubs will help their rating.
True but those are a few. Bas Dost isnt one of those. On another note the guy turned down Villa because he thinks he too good for them Laugh
1. Villa are poo so hes correct there.

He's turned down Villa because Barca are sniffing around him.
