Sea Eagles were up 38-4 at half time but then injuries to Matt Ballin, Jason King, David Williams and Jamie Buhrer in quick succession left them with 14 men to play out the last 35 minutes.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
Melbourne Storm came back after trailing for 77 mins to pip the Sharks in the final seconds 20-18.
With 2 minutes to go, Cronulla lead 18-10. Odds for their victory $1.01, Storm $6.00. Then two tries in 2 minutes.

Absolutely superb last day of winter here... not a cloud in the sky, gentle breeze and early 20 degs C.
A great weekend of footy on its way.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
I only got to watch the last ten minutes of the Cronulla sutherland versus North Queensland, but it did mean I saw Pomeroy's shoulder charge on Jonathan Thurston, two things:
1. He definitely got him in the head.
2. I strongly felt that Thurston still milked it for what he could.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
We'll know more about it after his appointment with the Judiciary. As you say it looked a bit rough but Thurston is a shrewd customer.
Also, Carney's injury may be a worry but I think I heard something on the news (got distracted by a phone call) about it not be as bad as it seems and he should be OK. They definitely need them both for the match in Canberra.

Pomeroy got a 2 week suspension.
In other news - Brain Smith has been shown the door by the Roosters despite still having one year to go on his contract.

LB
I do respect Smith as being a great thinker and crafstman of rugby League, however calling him Brain might be going a bit far.
Couple of rumours over here that he might apply for the warriors job, as fine a coach as he is, he isnt the right guy to coach the Warriors.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
it must be a mild form of dyslexia... I've done that before I think.
No way... if he coaches the Warriors then all the good work by Ivan will have been undone in record time.
Don't know much about Brian McClennan's horror year but you guys deserve much, much better than Smith. What's Tony Iro like? I'm sure the players would respect him but has he got what it takes do you think? I'd like to see someone like Stacey Jones... legend of a player, nice bloke and he was a great thinker on the field. Can he impart that type of skill & knowledge to the players successfully though?

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
Canterbury 16 Manly 10 in the 1st Qualifying Final.
So the Bulldogs get a week off and Manly will play the winner of today's Cowboys v Broncos Elimination Final next week in Sydney.
Jamie Lyon injured - most likely won't be back. King and Matai on report so things look a bit bleak for the Sea Eagles.
St George-Illawarra beat Penrith 44-20 in the Toyota Cup Elimination Final 1
Wests Tigers beat Canterbury-Bankstown 24-20 in the TC Qualifying Final.

Actually Jamie Lyon didnt look too much in pain. I thought that he would be back.
I'm worried about Steve Matai, he usually gets suspended every September.
The run and feed by Williams, which lead to the Stewart try was the best run I've seen from T Williams, I never thought he had that many football brains.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
He's an awesome player just a pity he dropped those balls before making that offload that led to the Stewart try.
They're saying Lyon's calf injury will be assessed on Monday but usually an injury like that means a few weeks off the field. I hope he can return because we'll need him next week.

They're predicting a full house for the Bulldogs-Rabbits match which would be a great spectacle.
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/souths-build-saturday-night-fever-20120917-262my.html
If Manly don't make it through then that match would be like a mini GF in a way with the two local clubs. (Syd-centric view)
I'm quietly hoping it will be a Manly-Souths/Canterbury GF. That would be huge too.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
Manly got walloped 40-12 last night in Melbourne. They were never really in the game and Melbourne were on fire.
Big game starting shortly. Souths v Canterbury. Huge crowd expected.
In the Toyota Cup, Wests Tigers are through to the GF after beating the Roosters 28-22.
Canberra are hammering St-George-Illawarra in the other preliminary final... leading 44-10 in the 65th minute.

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
2nd grade.
Canterbury 32 bt Souths 8. After a tight first 30 mins with the Rabbits leading 8-6, Adam Reynolds tore his hamstring and 2 quick tries, one of them a possible 8-pointer were scored by Canterbury in 5 mins who then lead 16-8 at HT.
In the 2nd half it was all the Bulldogs. James Graham, Aiden Tolman, Frank Pritchard and Greg Eastwood took control up the middle and set up tries for themselves and Sam Perrett. Krisnan Inu had a blinder but his kicking was slightly off, so the 32-8 scoreline could have been worse for Souths.

I thought the Toyota Cup was the under 20's but my brother in law was saying how Gareth Ellis would be leaving Wests after playing in the final .
I shall tell him he's an idiot and to just keep looking at things through his black and white tinted glasses

Re: 2012 NRL Premiership: Results and Table
Melbourne Storm 14 Canterbury-Bankstown 4.
Clive Churchill Medal Winner: Cooper Cronk
Complete performance from the Storm. Relentless early pressure led to their first try from Ryan Hoffman and the Bulldogs were desperately defending on their line for repeat sets.
When the Bulldogs did get the ball, they were well contained man for man and were unable to make open space for Barba, Inu and Perrett to create damage as per usual.
It's been a great year of NRL. In the end The Storm deserved to win it but I'd say Canterbury will be around the top few teams next year and be much wiser having gone through this experience of coming one game short of a NRL Premiership.
