They were 14 all with about 60 minutes to go when Kevin Locke got injured so Bluey McLennan put Krisnan Inu back at fullback, who then immediately went on to drop two balls on zero tackle, about ten meters out from his goal line, against Melbourne thats game over.

KK,
More like the Storm just powered over them in the end. There's a good summary below.

Yes Laurie,
It was bad timing for the Warriors with Johnson's injury. That was a big loss. Still, they played well after that then ran out of steam as you would missing good players.

"That vital error came 55 minutes into the second half, with the scores locked at 10-10. Warriors centre Krisnan Inu, deputising for fullback Kevin Locke, who had left the field with an injured sternum, gathered the ball 10 metres from his line. Yet, somehow as Inu broke into stride, the ball dribbled from his hand.

From the next set, Storm winger Justin O'Neill scored in the corner. It was not the decisive moment. Bill Tupou would put the Warriors level again after pouncing upon a brilliant grubber by halfback Pita Godinet - a late replacement for the injured Shaun Johnson. Yet, in a season when the Storm have made a habit of absorbing their opposition's best before putting them to the sword, Melbourne would romp home in the last 15 minutes and become the first team since 1996 to win their first eight games.

Their lead was recaptured courtesy of a line that is becoming as familiar as ''caught Marsh, bowled Lillee''. Cameron Smith to Cooper Cronk to Billy Slater. This time, centre Will Chambers was the lucky recipient of that superstar trio's clean hands, scoring his second try. Then, to ice the Storm victory, Chambers completed his hat-trick, Dane Nielsen scored his second, and the hopes of a third thrilling Anzac Day finish were buried beneath a purple avalanche."

Over the years I have seen a lot of union and league, and this Melbourne "spine" (as they now call it) is as good as any attacking combination in either code,it gets even more amazing when its Queensland or Australia because they bring their mate jonathan Thurston into the mix as well.
I would never say Billy Slater is the best fullback I've ever seen but his a ability to attack and finish from so many different situations, makes him very special.

Whats the story,Manly making the warriors travel to perth?
At the moment you would beat them just as easily at Brookvale, without even having to catch a bus let alone a plane.

I don't know how they select the teams to play there but it's an NRL expansion thing... like playing in Adelaide. Agree, it's a hell of a long way for the Warriors to travel... the Sea Eagles too!

NSW State Of Origin side has just been announced for Game 1.

1. Brett Stewart (Manly-Warringah)
2. Akuila Uate (Newcastle)
3. Michael Jennings (Penrith)
4. Josh Morris (Canterbury-Bankstown)
5. Jarryd Hayne (Parramatta)
6. Todd Carney (Cronulla-Sutherland)
7. Mitchell Pearce (Sydney Roosters)

13. Greg Bird (Gold Coast)
11. Luke Lewis (Penrith)
12. Glenn Stewart (Manly-Warringah)
8. James Tamou (North Queensland)
10. Paul Gallen (Cronulla-Sutherland)
9. Robbie Farah (Wests-Tigers)

14. Ben Creagh (St George-Illawarra)
15. Jamie Buhrer (Manly-Warringah)
16. Trent Merrin (St George-Illawarra)
17. Tony Williams (Manly-Warringah)

Jennings is the first player ever to be called up from NSW President's Cup having played for the Windsor Wolves on the weekend.

Lots of Manly players but no Anthony Watmough? Tony Williams' selection is a surprise considering he is serving a long suspension.

Queensland will name their side tomorrow morning.

Good win for Cronulla holding out Melbourne 12-10 at Toyota Park.

Crazy game earlier on in Canberra this afternoon. The Raiders lead 24-6 at HT but the Eels came back early in the second half to make it 24-18. Then Canberra broke away again to lead 36-18 with 8 minutes to go.

However, Parra finished with a flurry... it was 36-34 with 3 minutes to go... but another poor defensive effort allowed the final say to the Raiders who eventually ran out winners 40-34.

(sorry Kenny....) Crying or Very sad

I watched it myself, Hurrel looks very good. I thought the Warriors let that game go, they seem to make silly mistakes way too much, if they could cut out them stupid mistakes they would be very hard to beat.

Gee I love watching NRL when the State of O players are'nt about, the ball that Cherry Evans threw for the Oldfiel try would have made Freddy or wally proud.

Food for thought: Brian Smith coached teams are'nt as clinical as they used to be?

He's a brilliant player. I was sitting in the airport in Maroochydore in about 2010 reading a local rag article about how he was about to play for Manly. He had won the Qld player-of-the year award and they were really talking him up as a huge future star. I hoped it was true... and I must say he has exceeded all expectations. He reminds me of a 2012 version of Johnny Gibbs... but more polished and super athletic. So young still.

There's something I've never liked about Brian Smith. I've never been a huge fan of his at all... in fact; the opposite. He probably tries too hard and always seems to be having a whinge about this, that or the other. Some of those gripes may be true but I find him less and less believable. Just glad he's nowhere near my team. Laugh

Great win for the Dogs last night. Is this the start of the wheels coming off for Cronulla...? they really missed Carney and Gallen I thought. Canterbury, on the other hand looking like a top 4 side when they're on fire.

Table and next weeks fixtures updated.

Big night tomorrow in Melbourne with the 1st State Of Origin.

Devastating loss yet again on Wednesday night for NSW.

I'm so de-sensitised now... having followed them since Game 1, 1980.
(I was in NZ at the time and copped a lot of stick from the cousins. They gave us a very hard time about that loss) Smile

I don't think this media blackout thing is a good idea - it's better to face the music and try to win Game 2. No changes needed either.
Just cut down on the errors more and keep the pressure on Qld as best they can. thumbsup

Jeez Line breaker I watched up to Parra getting back to 20 - 18, then had to do something else. I get the feeling that a lot of people know that Parramatta arent as bad as the table suggests and want to now see them get a few wins.

They are billing tonight's game as the return of "The Battle of Brookie".
Looking forward to it. Not sure they should be emphasising that aspect of the match though! Sends a bad message to the kiddies...

After a flying start from the Wests Tigers, the Newcastle Knights powered home in an upset 38-20 win tonight.
Timana Tahu scored a hat-trick of tries between the 34th and 45th minutes.

Table updated.

The 12 year voodoo for St George-Illawarra in Canberra remains. 22-18

They were leading with less than 5 mins to go but Reece Robinson had other ideas as he broke through some feeble backline defence to score.

Canberra Raiders have taken the Storm apart tonight.
Unbelievable game - relentless attacking play from the green machine... Melbourne just didn't have an answer and were well off their game.

40-12 Erm

Titans v Warriors now.
Perhaps the Warriors can dislodge Wests Tigers from the Top 8 with a win but GC are an unpredictable lot and have a few big scalps.

Table updated after Saturday night results. OK

Souths v Newcastle and Manly v Parra tomorrow.

Wink It seems they were up for it... it's not often Manly get thrashed.
Manly play them again in a few weeks time at home. I think we'll see a different kind of performance then.
Toovs will have them fired up for the Bulldogs match this Friday!

What a finish.
Roosters led 22-10 with 4 mins to go and then 2 tries... the last one bringing it back from the kick off.
An amazing 24-22 win to the Bunnies.

Shocking news that, Kiwi.
It's a sad indictment on the pathetic drinking culture in league (and other sports too)... made especially worse when we've just had the horrible tragedy of the young lad being randomly king hit and killed last weekend in the Cross - which has dominated the news. The loss of David Hooks is another example of what is wrong with this drunken, paranoid and violent behaviour of some 'people'.

If Craig Field is looking for a good lawyer, he could do a lot worse than get that guy that got Sam Kasiano off the Head high tackle charge.

Spoke too soon... Warriors take their foot off the pedal and the Knights surge home to win 24-19.

Another great win for Souths over Saints 36-14.
That's 9 wins from the last 11 games and moves them up to 3rd place at the expense of Brisbane.
Parramatta have upset Melbourne 16-10 at home. Kenny... Very Happy thumbsup

The table has been updated... the Bulldogs are outright leaders now.

Tim Sheens has talked about the West Tigers making the top 4, but they are going to have a devel's own job now. I'm not sure if they will even make the 8 at the moment as the Titans are in a bit of form, and you never know what the Warriors might do. I would love to see the Cowboys make the finish in the top 4 for sure.
