Apparently watching this at the Stoop now, can't wait, my favourite derby and I guiltily harbour a soft spot for Wasps despite everything

Re: Quins v Wasps
Thus does the twisty, pointy, knife edged part of the season descend on us... Quins - fresh from a thumping loss away at Toulon, Wasps – with even more worrying things on their minds than the game. Only one team will redeem themselves or stave off the grey clouds of administration this weekend... Let’s look at that loss against Toulon then. Fresh as it is in our minds, and now that firey tempers have calmed down somewhat in the light of day, the clue to the forthcoming display may have been apparent when Robbo slipped on the marble coming out of the changing rooms... In an important and heartfelt game I would expect game faces to be on, however our chortling subs, tittering at poor old Robbos misstep betrayed our somewhat ‘laissez faire’ attitude to this one, and that’s exactly how the game panned out. Little came off for us, the ref had (I thought) a good game and when yet again our poor discipline cost us against a no nonsense kicker we were always chasing the game. Lets take nothing from Toulon, they had two wrecking balls in their team in Armitage and Basteraud and they thoroughly deserved their victory.
All the clichés have been said already. However we now have nothing left to focus on but the league. Conor rested our most influential players in Robshaw, Nev and Lowe to name but a few who were either ‘injured’, out of the match day squad or benched. The latest rumblings indicate Robshaw is likely to make the game, however doubts persist about Nev.
Against an injury hit Wasps with other things on their minds, who will be playing with fears of relegation, surely with all of our big boys back, and even with Cleggy playing we should have enough in the locker to swat them?
Wasps however have their confirmed safety to play for, not to mention local pride. In recent weeks they have been struck fairly heavily by injuries however they have been grinding out some wins, and certainly went a lot closer in Europe than many of their fellow English clubs. Due to their injury crisis they have had to turn to youngsters such as Launchbury, Wade and Daly. Their scrum was dominant in the display against London Irish, however it was the much unfancied Robinson at 10 who steadily popped the points for them in a typically unflashy way. However in their next game against Saints they came a cropper as their defence crumbled like a politicians principles in the light of splendid counter attacking from Northampton after Robinson had again established a foothold in the game, however they picked up a further injury when Waldouck joined their walking wounded in a heavy loss. They then squeaked through against Glaws on a sundrenched day with the aforementioned Daly stepping up to the plate and showing bottle to take a dramatic late penalty, and then faced off against a Yachvilli and Balshaw inspired Biarritz in a pulsating encounter which they just lost out in.
All in all steady momentum apart from the blip against Saints. So these Wasps aren’t done yet. However in the key match ups Quins will be looking to dominate a Wasps team decimated by injuries and retirements this season and desperately awaiting the reinforcements they have lined up next season. With Quins putting out a more or less first choice team, even the neutral would say that Quins look to be streets ahead in the back row and the back three. With the injuries that Wasps have suffered in the centres, and the understanding growing between Lowe and JTH on a match by match basis I’m confident that if Cleggy spins out quick ball we’ll be able to damage this Wasps back line. The front row will be an interesting skirmish, JJ and Joe have been hitting rude form of late (not to mention Buchanan having a solid start to his Quins 1st team career), and refs seem to be cottoning on to the legal binds that JJ is making and is simply being the opposition unable to weather his initial impact.
The weather looks to be ready to rampantly fall on us with great precipitation this weekend, so let’s hope that the ill discipline of late is wiped out by what I assume has been a strong message from the management this week.
All looking good...!
COME ON YOU QUINS!!!!!!

Afternoon all from the Stoop Press Room, nice day in London and should be a good match. Final team sheets are in, no changes.
Bit of a stir amongst the hacks when news of Newcastle leading 19-6 came through. Though most interest is on the Grand National
I'll try and tweet updates from @v2rugby

Jill Douglas. Does she actually know rugby and just comes across as clueless due to producers? [forget that, I'm thinking about Sonya, Jill's alright]
Dodger, me too. I'm not too impressed with Dia Youngs' Welsh retirement camp but the academy does have some very good players (Daly, Wade, Vunipola and Launchbury to name a few who are all around 20)

She's a Gloucs fan so was a bit glum. Knows her horses though, we were all suggesting a 10 minute delay to kickoff so we could watch the race.

In fact end result is 29-20 to Newcastle. Excellent win for them and no lbp for Gloucester at home. Sarries have won without a bp. Worcester beating Exeter by 7 at the moment

Nice try for Robson. Beating Wasps and denying them a lbp would be a massive boost for Newcastle (although they have to get something off Sarries as well as beating Wasps)
