Redpath leaves Glaws
First topic message reminder :

Very disappointing news. Recent performances have been poor, but Brush has been building a good ethos behind the scenes. The cynic in me suggests this stepping down could be due to a return north, but Brush is an honest guy and I would have thought he'd have said if that was the reason.

Apart from Rob Kearney?HongKongCherry wrote:Bathite wrote:formerly known as Sam wrote:Not bad, but I'd have Bendy over Morgan everyday of the week
Morgan is a better all rounder. Abendanon has limited tactical kicking ability and despite a willingness in defence isn't a great tackler. Morgan offers better kicking and tackling as well as being excellent under the high ball and no slouch in attack.
Anyone that thinks Bendy can't tackle hasn't watched him play for the last 2 seasons. It's a common misconception. It used to be an issue, but not anymore, neither is the high ball, but yeah he kicking is probably his weakest asset. Morgan is always injured, Bendy is so consistent. One of the top metres made and defenders beaten year in year out.
There's no doubt Bendy has improved his tackling, but he's gone from flakey to average, he still misses too many. There is no doubt his attacking ability is excellent, but his all round game is not of the standard of Morgan. Genuinely without a word of bias, there is not a better FB in the NH under the high ball than Morgan - which is why he is often injured!

Sorry to burst the bubble guys but the current FB order in England goes:
Foden,Brown,Goode,May,Abendanon.
Morgan is not mentioned because he's injured.

Well seeing as May isn't a fullback, he's done well to appear anywhere on the list.

Thank you ASBO
Beshocked, we're not talking about current pecking orders. This is an imaginery world where Glaws and have joined up! But all things being equal, when fit, Morgan is better than most on that list - the key being when fit! But he is without doubt the best under the high ball of all English FBs by a country mile (which is more an indication of how good he is, rather than the others are poor).

BBC:
"Gloucester insist they will begin a "legal attack" against Sale if they discover an approach for Bryan Redpath was behind his exit. "
Great build up of atmosphere to Saturday's last Glaws home game, when the 2 clubs (6th & 7th in the Jeff) slog it out for a possible HC slot next season. Haven't had much to cheer about this season, so is one last chance for Glaws to make me want to renew my ticket.

Welsh papers reporting that Glaws lining up Dai Young as Redpath's replacement. Can't see it happening myself.

Wasps may well take a bit of compensation for their head coach in order to pay off a creditor or two. It might weel be the start of a talent fire sale at Wasps. I remember Falcons selling off Flood, Tait and Woods for not far off a million combined a few years ago and if Wasps need to raise a couple of million to keep going then Dai Young plus a couple of promising players, Robinson, Palmer and Haskell might just do the trick.

Would you honestly not renew your ticket? We will have a potentially great side next season, I think a true fan wouldn't turn his/her back on the club.

Re: Redpath leaves Glaws
There has been a lot of chat on shedweb (when it works!) about renewing season tickets. Personally, it makes no difference to me how Glaws are playing, or even what league they were in. I like watching rugby. I will be renewing my ST regardless of whether we get into the HC, but as ER states we've got the making of a really good side for next season. We're being linked to a lot of decent coaches, so I am very positive next season will see a notable improvement.
On the coach front, I've now seen us linked to:
Eddie O'Sullivan, Mark Mapletoft, John Kirwan, Dai Young, Gary Gold, Steve Meehan (please God no!!) and Pat Lam. I'm sure the Glaws rumour mill will also have Andy Deacon, Phil Vickery and Phil Greening.

Actually there is something that could stop me renewing my ST!!
I would take SIM, he just needs a side that doesn't use a health spa for a training ground!

I agree, if it was down to me I'd do away with world class facilities and get my team into shape using techniques like in a Rocky film.
Running up a mountain, punching carcasses weight training with logs, you get the idea.

If Gloucester get Dia Young for anything other than a scrum coach I'd be disappointed in them.

I'd be very surprised if Dai Young ends up at Glaws. I think its journo's doing 2+2=5. There are better candidates in the mix and there is no suggestion Dai young will be available.

Re: Redpath leaves Glaws
I'm still struggling to come to terms with all this.
With all that we've seen of Bryan Redpath's character I still want to take his "I'm going nowhere" statement at face value.
I still see him as a particularly honest individual so I can't quite reconcile those words with his resignation.
A short run of bad performances (and slightly unlucky results) doesn't seem enough reason for any coach to abandon his players, employers and supporters, and certainly not for Redpath if I've read his character right.
So I wonder if he's been used and dropped in the **** by his 'friends' up at Sale, who might possibly have exaggerated or even invented their conversations with him for some bizarre reasons, and thus created a situation where Redpath felt he had no other honourable option but to resign?
But, if I'm being naive, and he does take up a role at Sale, I fear it will destroy his reputation (and damage Sale's too).
And if he doesn't, then his integrity may remain unblemished, but he'll be out of a job with no income and presumably no severance payment from Gloucester and no means to support his family.
Redpath may yet prove to be a victim rather than a villain, and perhaps the biggest casualty of the whole affair.
Whatever the real truth, it's a sad, bad business that's done nobody any good.

English Reign, sorry tongue in cheek mate, I will be renewing my ticket. Like HKC, I like the rugby, I like the craic with my 5 other mates, and a nice Doombar in the Kingsholm before the game. Last few games have been frustratingly close for all of us, but Glaws squad is in fact looking even more exciting for next season. Yes of course I will renew.

Completely agree with you. This is a very sordid affair. Whilst I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt to Brush until we hear otherwise, I just can't get over the timing of the whole thing. I am a firm believer that a coincidence is rarely coincidental and the fact Brush has gone the week of the crunch match with the team that has been courting him smacks of vested interest.
I do also believe that this incident will have galvanised the team and I'm expecting Catle Grim to be a cauldron again this Saturday

HKC, the team have certainly needed something to galvanise them ever since losing away at Leicester.
Let's hope it galvanises the Kingsholm support too and collectively Glaws can give Sale an experience they'd rather forget!

In the Western Mail today, I suspect it is unlikely but Dai Young could run Glaws into the ground next.
