TNA/Hogan - Don't they get it. (spoiler) Empty TNA/Hogan - Don't they get it. (spoiler)

"Hulk Hogan made a "big announcement" at Tuesday's Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando, Florida (airing this Thursday on SPIKE TV). As Eric Bischoff promised last week on Twitter, the program will feature all-new elements.

Impact Wrestling will hold "Open Fight Night" once per month as a wrestler not affiliated with TNA Wrestling will have the opportunity to earn a roster spot by competing in a match. Based on the non-affiliated wrestler's performance, three judges (including Hogan) will decide whether he or she receives a contract.

During "Open Fight Night," any TNA wrestler can challenge any wrestler on the roster, including champions. Those challenged must be ready to fight."

Don't they get it fans don't want to see new stange unique ideas, they want logical storylines and booking that makes sense - that is what will draw viewers in not this.

I'd also say this has Hogan written all over it. He is poison.

This reminds me of that celebrity wrestling thing he did for MTV when Bischoff and him were judges and Brian Knobbs did the training if I recall correctly.

TNA are trying to cash in on the reality TV era about 5+ years too late. It is another watered down version of NXT.

However, it makes those future endeavoured by WWE easier to get into the TNA roster. John Morrison to be on the first episode?

Trying all these reality ideas are just not working, surely doing a good old fashion wrestling show works better.

Very true, but they are trying the scatter gun approach in the hope that they discover the next big thing, idea wise, and it propels them past WWE.

Maybe they don't trust good old wrestling shows to do that.

The problem is, what star power are they going to be able to attract to draw in viewers? And what star power are a company in financial trouble going to be able to afford?

Ex WWE needing a quick job. That goes for past and present wrestlers.

This idea has potential and could have some legs if booked correctly, im not going to 'poo poo' it until I've seen it in action but IMO the concept is decent. It should be booked over a number weeks/months that the external challengers don't quite cut the mustard and keep missing out and then when someone eventually comes in and nocks the socks off of the judges and crowd they get the contract, are put over and have the beginning of a great push, it could really elevate someone like Morrison, masters, MVP etc etc.

I imagine tho that tna will not have the guts to play the long game with it and will pull the trigger on week one or two thus diluting the concept and neither tna or the wrestler gain anything.

Done in the right manner it could make a star or potential star out of someone waiting for a big break.

In theory, I think this is a great idea. I mean, you have a guy come in, give him 10 minutes to get as over as he can, if it's obvious he has potential then keep him, if not then say bye-bye.
