First topic message reminder :
Ulster vs Edinburgh

Nice sparkly new thread for the build-up to the Heineken Cup Semi-Final. Links to press interviews, team speculation, breaking news and discussion in the week ahead.
Let's kick off with interviews with Ulster defence coach Jonathan Bell and Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley.
Jonny Bell thinks Ulsters fans can be the difference as he reflects on his own win in the 1999 competition.
Michael Bradley talks about the Toulouse quarter-final and assesses the threat of Ulster.

Marty - I suspect most places with TVs will be showing it - everywhere on the "upper" Ormeau Road (the Big House, Errigle, Parador), the Taphouse, McHughes, the Garrick, Morrisons, the Cloth Ear, maybe the Empire or Bar 12, the Kitchen Bar, the Basement und so weiter.
If I was going into town, I'd be heading to the Garrick. And I'd go early.

Can't wait! Leaving the maiden city early in the morning for the trip to Dublin.
We're heading to the Gasworks bar beside the Grand Canal Hotel before the match. Apparently there will be a "quiz master" there in the form of an Ulster supporter, you find him or his daughter and answer an easy question and you'll get a free pint. Can't turn down a free pint

Does anyone know a good rugby pub in Glasgow city centre?
I'm moving up tomorrow, and get the keys at 4pm - any good pubs in the George Square area would be greatly appreciated!
It's as though estate agents don't think of these things...

Best spot is probably Waxy O'Connors beside Queens St Station... Loads of screens, good atmosphere although fairly pricey (£3.75 for a pint of larger!) I'm betting on it being full of Ulster fans though!

When first my brave Johnie lad came to this town,
He had a blue bonnet that wanted the crown,
But now he has gotten a hat and a feather -
Hey, brave Johnie lad, man sausage up your beaver!
man sausage up your beaver, and man sausage it fu' sprush!
We'll over the border and gie them a brush:
There's somebody there we'll teach better behavior -
Hey, brave Johnie lad, man sausage up your beaver!
Believe.
Slainte mo chara!

For me, we are weaker at 3 and 7 but stronger now at 10 without Humphreys. Sad, but true. Our halfbacks are an area of strength.
Fitzpatrick will scrummage well and at the very least be even with his man; my main concern is Willie Faloon.

I can assure you the Cooke lads will be down in force! Know of about 30 at least.
And was in the company of your namesake on Thursday Gibbo,(with about 300 odd others i might add) the great man was looking as trim as ever, was great to hear him, and others, talking about the game we love in the build up to such a great weekend

Re: Ulster vs Edinburgh, Build Up Thread
Unreal feeling to this match as a neutral. For me I don't want either to lose, or more accurately it will be a good result whoever wins. In Dublin you'd tip Ulster all day long. However the HC Edinburgh team is a different animal. Good luck to both, let the refereeing not be determinative and let the best side win. I also hope the Sky commentators are honest. I'd want them to admit they hardly ever see these players in action instead of claiming rediculous things based on patchy research. And if that isn't asking too much, let's have a decent match. Now get of the silly computer and get down to the business of properly enjoying a massive day in sport for cold wet places

Not particulary bothered as to who is triumphant today but good look to both teams. These are two teams who didn't bring in any 'big names' but developed their players via our domestic league. Good to see it bearing fruition and hopefully both teams can be as strong throughout next season in both competitions.

Pienaar, Wannenburg weren't/aren't big names. Ulster made some intelligent signings there. I was talking about guys like Ferris, Henry, Spence, Gilroy, etc... THe Ulstermen. And out of the list isn't only Wannenburg, Pienaar, Afoa and Terblanche starting? I did expect one or two usual suspects to misunderstand what I meant though and put words in that I didn't even use, unexpected from you Shizoid. BTW, have your team taken any steps to strengthen their squad for next year? I understand they recieve a bonus for making it this far in the H-Cup?

When bluesman says half the team have been bought in he actually means we have 4 non Irish players playing, and the Ulster squad has far less foreigners than the Blues. Just much better ones.
