Re: Into the wild
this film grates on me.
I have seen it twice- and both times couldnt stop questioning how true it is was to the real events.
not bad but i wont see it again 6/10

I gave it 7. Maybe a bit generous. I don't want to sound like that guy but... the book really was loads better.

Gave it a 7. Liked it a lot when I first saw it but subsequent reading on the story suggests that the film romanticised McCandless perhaps more than was deserved. A tragic waste but a little bit of common sense on his part would have meant that things woudl have worked out better for him.
Worth a 7 for the soundtrack (great stuff from Eddie Vedder) and the cinematography.

7 for me, thought the film was good even if the main character happened to be a complete plonker.

Re: Into the wild
He's not really a lead character you can get behind, and comes across as a know all a**hole. I know it's meant to be true to the book but there's no character there the audience can relate too, which prevented the film being above a 6/7 for me.
As already said though, quality soundtrack.

I rated this a 5. i enjoyed certain parts of the film, but the main character was obviously a bit of a nut job, hippy socialist sort of character. Then when I found out Sean Penn directed it, it all made sense really. I have yet to read up on the actual story, but I am expecting the real story to confirm my thoughts. That the bloke was way out of his depth and lacked common sense in the wilderness.

You'll score it higher if you regard it as a comedy.
