B&I Cup Final Empty B&I Cup Final

Post by doctornickolas Fri 27 Apr 2012, 7:33 pm

Munster A have beaten Cross Keys in the final by 31 - 12.

A good effort by the semi professional Cross Keys.

It was always an up hill task against a team of professionals but they were in it at half time at 16 - 12.

Seem to have dropped off in the second half as expected though.

I'm pretty pleased still. A few Crosskeys players need to be given a shot by Dopey Darren Edwards. Gerwyn Price looks like a Lloyd Burns type player and there's a few other tidy enough players in there.

Munster's last try highlighted the difference in class. Jevon Groves should be disappointed with his turnover for Munster's second try though.

Well done Keys thats a decent scoreline in reality and they shouldn't be ashamed, hold their heads high and have a good night in Ireland (which I think they might)

Paddy Butler has potential and Ivan Dineen is a pretty big guy.

Cross Keys discipline killed em.

Quite a good game to watch. Good enterprise from both teams. Munsters professionalism pulled through in the end. There's a few Keys players playing a class above the level they're playing though.

Can one of the regions please sign up the cross keys props NOW! Even if they only last until half time they'd be worth the solid scrum.

I know it's another level but whenever I see club games the forwards always seem to have a spring/feisty-ness in their step that regional games don't.

I hear all the time that the Dragons look at Marc Jones (the tight head) but say he's the wrong shape. Doesn't say much for the Dragons fitness staff if they can't work with him. A tight head like him who can already scrummage (and yet can still develop further) would be just the ticket.

There wouldn't be no harm in any members of the front row coming off the bench for the Dragons, I'd like to see them get a sterner test.

Risca, do you know why Nash was carded? The ball was out and it wasn't a deliberate knock-on seeing as it was with his foot. Neither did it go forward.

I thought Munster got some favourable calls from the ref but they were the better side as expected. Credit to the Keys players. Gave it their all, their fans were great craic too. The props were good scrummagers but offered nothing else that could be what is hampering their regional chances.

Butler, Williams and O'Dea were impressive for Munster.

It was in the scrumhalf's hands when he kicked it out though. If you ask why did he get pinged for jackalling "on his knees" before that, then that's a different matter.

The way I see it is, did Keys deserve to lose? Yes. Did they deserve to lose by that much? Probably not. One thing I will ask is how come the Munster A 7 was allowed to try playing the kid in front of the ref, particularly against Nashy. There was a few times that he tried being the macho man and pushing Nashy in the face, that warranted a penalty reversal. He acted like a petulant kid a few times. Hope if he makes it, he hits puberty and realises he isn't 12 anymore.

That was David O'Callaghan. He certainly look like he could make the step-up though. Munster are very blessed.

Munster B&I
Ulster HC final
Leinster HC final
Connacht HC involvement next season.

After the infuriating Six Nations we've been through, that's a nice string to end it on....for now.

Not bad for the Irish clubs and Provinces... Lets see it translate on the international field soon, I am sure it will, one poor result in the six nations rather coloured what was not a bad team performance.

Fly I do kind of look back at those days with a sense o longing when I have been watching a referee strangle the life out of anything positive that the players try to contribute. It was a simpler age, but you got your money's worth from the game too. Maybe ol'Deccie is the same...?

Props is every bodies cause for worry. Maybe the Irish need to start employing an Argentinian workforce instead of a polish one...? In ten years time you'll have a new generation of monster props too choose from
