Our walk isn't particularly hilly but there are some challenging parts. I need to make sure my shoes are good, how my feet hold up is the make or break . Fitness wise I'm fine with the distance but if your feet go then your screwed

Yeah I know what you mean, I go through compeed heel plasters at a rate of knots just because I had rubbish insoles. My advice would be to get a good pair of insoles with padding, as that can really help with your feet.

I'm doing an investigative study of how the legacies of major sporting events have impacted upon their hosts. Concentrating on social change, infrastructure and tourism. Using South Africa as my main example.

Sounds good mate, as well as WC2010 what others are you using? Greece's hosting of the Olympics a few years back would be a good example given how much it cost them.

Saint - Barcelona since the Olympics 20 odd years ago would be a good study, plenty of examples of good changes and also bad

800 is just the min it has to be.

I'll be referring to a pool of events, Germany 2006, Athens, Sydney, just a manner of major sporting events from last decade. Have been advised to use The South Africa RWC from 1995 as well, for the social change section with the whole apartheid and Mandela wanting to bring the country together.

Overall, I want to answer whether the the events leave a good or bad impression essentially.

Bull, just leave it mate, your asking for ridicule mate, it's not a big essay. Just be glad of the fact and get on with it before anyone upsets you.

You should be relatively sorted then. Just make sure the boots fit well as well, otherwise you'll really suffer as well.

Bull, when you get to college, you'll be doing essays that are 2000 words maximum, and you'll be complaining the word limit is too low

Welcome to my University life! Never thought I'd ever have to shorten paragraphs just so I could cover everything!!

The ammount of time I've spent with a tutor cutting down on words by slightly re-writing sentences just to remove about 200 words was rediculous. When you get onto the 10,000 word area I bet it's a nightmare for editing.

Bonus if you mention either:

Stefan Terblanche, Johann Muller, Pedrie Wannenberg or (and for extra bouns points) Ruan Pienaar.

I managed to finish my history coursework on 1,999 words Probably the happiest I've been in recent weeks.

I managed to finish the two History coursework pieces I had on 2,150 words and 2,400 words, so needed to cut them down slightly.

Any ideas on whether NOG will be up tomorrow or the day after Mat?

Not a clue to be honest with you Jack, haven't heard from JJ, I'm going on the assumption it is tomorrow thus trying to get all my stuff done for then.

I always thought a word count is a ridiculous notion. I still do. Some people could convey a smart, revolutionary opinion with plenty of documentary evidence in 800 words, whereas others could fail to even express an opinion in 10,000.

It can be compared to the WWA tactics in a way. It shouldn't be for the authorities to judge what is too long, or too short, but for the marker/voter to decide when length is procrastination or brevity inarticulate.
