P Mick and Colonial
Hi guys,
i came across this blog....
http://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2012/apr/29/mickelson-loses-one-of-his-fans/
its obviously very one sided but it certainly doesnt show lefty in a great light. Personally I've always been a big fan of his and hadn't seen anything to suggest his nice guy attitude was anything but genuine (which is something many people have questioned in the past).

If Colonial was such a great course then surely re-designing it is a greater spit in the face to Ben Hogan?
The author of that article is being over-dramatic, pro golfers have and always will look out for numero uno.

Re: P Mick and Colonial
If that's what Phil thinks, he certainly shouldn't say it.
Having said that, there seems to be a hidden agenda going on here - Phil didn't play last year in Fort Worth, he's a past Champion at the Byron Nelson so perfectly understandable that he'd want to play there, and he can't play everywhere.
Colonial has celebrated a good mix of winners recently, Kenny Perry twice, Stricker, Zach, Toms . . . . ooh, and Phil twice.
Not sure what changes have been made, but noticeable that all the testimony of the quality of the course are from people who haven't played Colonial since the nineties.
Still highly regarded by today's pros whatever Phil thinks he thinks.

I was not aware the colonial was thought of as a great course by any measure? So why would it bother anyone if Phil confirmed this?

Ranked 5th by the Pros, in between Pebble and Muirfield Village - ranked in the Golf Digest top 100 but certainly not that high.

Phil may have been taken out of context. I quite like his honesty. Perhaps in this instance he may have been too honest, but that's how he is.

If he didn't want to play, all he had to say was that he wouldn't be playing. He didn't need to blab away about changes to the course. I like him - I'm surprised he wasn't more discrete in this case.

FIGJAM Phil just can't help himself.
No surprise ... more than one touring professional would caution you from being taken in by his "Gee Whiz" perennial smile nonsense.
Maybe Phil will grace Colonial with his Architectural guidance ...

That should be an eye-opener, especially from one who often seems like he doesn't have a clue what a fairway is for.Shotrock wrote:...Maybe Phil will grace Colonial with his Architectural guidance ...
