All this talk over Pogba leaving. where has this actually been confirmed as all I can find is the fake Pogba account and then people reposting it. The main papers etc were duped by it and have since removed the links so they all go to dead pages.

Good replacement at a fraction of the cost of Hazard there for Lille.
Isla to Juve is a good move, excellent player who can play in various positions and he'll have his Chilean teammate Vidal to work with.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Luka Modric is being reported in numerous papers to be on the verge of a move to Utd for an initial 25m and potentially reaching 30m
The Polish Coach has also stated today that Lewandowski has joined his former Dortmund team mate Kagawa in signing for Utd.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Could be a swap deal involving Berbatov for Lewandowski.
Not that keen on Modric but I'll give him a chance, gonna get fleeced by spurs again lol.
I wonder what this means for our strikers, with another being brought in.

I had a feeling about Lewandowski when I heard about Berba going the other way in return plus some cash.
Not sure why we need Luka, we got Kagawa, Carrick, Scholes, Cleverly. If we get him I mean the more the merrier but I think we need to be looking at a holding midfielder atm and a RB and LB.

Luka for me is the Premiership equivilant of Xavi, orchestrating the ebb and flow of the game from his deeper playmaker role, I think it would be a fantastic buy.
Lewandowski is a great goalscorer but I'm struggling to see when he'd get game time regularly with the change in system to accomodate Kagawa.

Modric's form dipped with Spurs. He really wasn't very good over the last part of the season.
Levy will hold out for 40m plus again anyway.

I don't think Modric is any where near as good as Xavi though, I don't think he has the same vision, but maybe that will come. If you do sign Modric though, where is Kagawa going to be playing?

In the AM/SS role that he would have been playing anyway?

Re: Big Premier League Signings
That does mean if you don't sign Modric, you have a gaping hole in central midfield, unless Scholes is expected to full it once again.
I would have thought the AM/SS position is one of United's strongest positions, with Rooney, Young, Nani all capable of playing there.

Kagawa was never going to dropping back to a CM position, the lad averages 1 tackle a game, he'd be a fish out of water back there.

Anyway that Man Utd striker from Chile is for 3m.
Madrid would only do that deal in exchange for Aguero I imagine.

Depends if City offer stupid money. Real might sell him for £75 million

Not sure City can anymore. New rules are going to limit them somewhat.
Madrid have a long standing interest in Aguero.

£75 million would help the spanish banks out tho
I'm really not sure how the new regulations will affect city (and other big spenders), there are probably ways around it

They still don't have the income beyond that to balance out I suspect. They won't be poor, but they'll probably have to rein in their spending somewhat. The massive wage bill is the big problem.

Arsenal are leading the chase to sign striker Olivier Giroud, according to his club (Montpellier).
Schalke are thought to be after Salmon Kalou & Rafael Van De Vart, as there main summer signings.
And nothing to do with this thread but something i found intresting, Rangers are in talks with Gatteuso about returning to the club from Milan.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Does anyone know much about Giroud?
I'm trying to figure out whether to be excited as we've bolstered our attacking options and maybe given ourselves another goalscorer or that I shouldn't be too excited as it could be the same as Chamack (who I liked and looked very good when he 1st started but faded way too much and didn't give us the edge we needed).

Like Peter Crouch. Surprisingly good with his feet. Wouldn't count on him getting any more than 10-15 goals a season though.

I won't be surprised to see him flop like Chamakh though, especially if Van Persie stays. I doubt Wenger will play with two up top.

Don't see how that would work?? RVP and Giroud are not wide men. Also would leave them horribly exposed in the full back area

Why would you move a guy who has just scored 30 goals in the Prem this past season from the main striker role out to the wing?? That would be like the dumbest move ever in my eyes

I cannot see Van Persie, Giroud, Podolski front free. If anything, Giroud is going to replace Chamakh if Van Persie stays and Van Persie if he goes.

At the en of the day this prob doesn't mean much in terms of RVP. Chamakh out the door followed by Bendtner leaves Arsenal short up front

Re: Big Premier League Signings
I agree Graeme - this signing gives us more options up front - which we didn't have last season and suffered for.
Personally I can't see ur playing a front 3 of Podolski, RVP and Giroud as even though we do play a 4,3,3/4,5,1 we have Gervinho, Walcott, Rosicky & Chamberline who play wide as well - and we do try and use Walcott/Chamberlines pace to make defences wary.
I think this statement was said as we're just in the process of signing Giroud, we've already signed Podolski and Wenger doesn't see any point in telling them they'll be fighting it out for the same space or being back up to RVP, as it will just demotivate them
