Reports came out of Italy that Demba Ba had signed for Galatasary for 11 millions euros, then Newcastle said they hadn't received any offers. So I would take it with a pinch of salt. I think he'd be better than Hulk, and cheaper, anyway so I would love to see him at Chelsea! Jovetic that is.

I think so, but I heard that Sigurdsson has said he wouldn't have joined Swansea without Brendan Rodgers as manager. It was one of the reasons he went to Swansea in the first place, they've worked together at Reading and Swansea.

Then both should've communicated that. Swansea have been left in the lurch for a few weeks now.

I don't think so. It might not have been made public, but I imagine Swansea know what is happening. Don't assume just because we don't know that they don't.

Montpellier's left back Henri Bedimo (i know what your thinking WHO, sorry can't help with that one), has announced that he's on the verge of joing a premiership club, and will announce who next week. He has been linked with Liverpool & Newcastle.
Liverpool & West Ham are being linked with Inter winger Luc Castaignos.
Liverpool are also being linked with Roma striker Fabio Borini, who is also thought to be intresting Paris St Germain.
Reading are thought to be after Hull City midfielder Robert Koran.

Can't see why a player as good as Sigurdsson would join a team as bad and hopeless as Liverpool

Yeah for £4million apparently (Debuchy), hard to see how a starter for France in the Euros is worth so little in Newcastles estimation.

To be fair, Debuchy wouldn't be starting if it wasn't for Sagna breaking his leg again.
It's almost as if Newcastle are just trying to ignore what has happened at Euro 2012, which they can't. I would be very surprised if that bid is accepted or not outbid by another club.

But even then, hes a league winner, in the CL, 2nd choice for his country (a major footballing nation) and his value is similar to a league 2 18 year old apparently.
Just a strange bid imo, if it is true.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
I wouldn't mind seeing Arsenal bid for him for around that price - as with Sagna out with a broken leg (and not likely to be up to speed for the first few months of the season) we need some cover at RB, and need some competition when Sagna's back (so we don't have a situation like last season where we were playing centre backs and midfielders at LB/RB for half the season.

Cabaye was also a league winner and about to break into the French team when he was bought for £4.3 million.

That bid of 4m was made pre-euros and is confirmed by garcia the manager of lille. we've been trying to tie him down for well over a month. I agree 4m is insulting bid for the french international if this was made this week but it wasnt

Debuchy's been hugely impressive during this tournament. I didn't realise how good he was. He counts as a big signing if it goes through (and hopefully he goes to Newcastle).

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Clubs in the French league don't have as bad tax rates as the English clubs, so players bought from there will always be cheaper. They have much cheaper TV deals too, so can't afford to keep players like they can in England
PSG will probs buy Debuchy

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Depends how strong the friendship of Cabaye is to Debuchy and whether he's ambitious enough to test himself outside of France. I think NUFC have blown it in my opinion, should of wrapped the deal up pre-euros. We will end up with Clyne from Palace I would of thought

Re: Big Premier League Signings
West Ham (again) & Reading are being linked with Sochaux forward Modibo Maiga. West ham have also increased there bid for Grant Holt to £5.5 million.
Arsenal are being strongly linked to Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa, with Wenger believed to have met the players representatives.
Now i could be wrong(not being an Arsenal fan), but don't they already have -Van Persie, Poldalski, Giroud, Walcott, Chamberlain, Rosickey, Arshavan for attacking positions?

Arshavin (if reports are to believed) is off to one of the Russian clubs, but if not prob wouldn't feature much after being on loan for the last 6 months or so.
I reckon Giroud will take Chamacks place as back up for RVP, Chamberlain and Walcott are competing for the same place (unless Walcott plays instead of RVP sometimes in the season), but we also have Gervinho (who has shown potential last season, just needs consistency) and Podolski who'll both compete for the right attacking berth.
I would imagine Arfa (if it's true we're after him) would compete with Arteta in the attacking midfield berth.
But I could be wrong

Gervinho can also play left sided attacker (as he was playing last year), that leaves Walcott and Chamberlain on the right (unless Walcotts moved in to the centre, or Chamberlain comes on as an impact sub on the left)
Wiltshire could play in a midfield diamond of Arfa/Arteta, Wilshire (or Ramsey), Song (or M'vila)

I'm guessing it'll be Song and M'Vila breaking from deep to give Arsenal more defensive solidarity, while Wilshere/Arteta start in an advanced role. Ramsey no more than a sub based on last years form.

I agree - but was just trying to work Ben Arfa into the deal. It'll be good to see if Frimpong can recover to his early season form as well to provide good competition to Song/M'Vila

Re: Big Premier League Signings
what happened to Gervinho this year in Arsenal ? forgot he went there and am wondering if he's playing good football for them as he was class when in Lille.
M'Vila is too expensive for Arsenal I heard, they might have shot at Etienne Capoue (a younger version of Olivier Dacourt) from Toulouse (but Juventus and Inter are lookign at him as well).

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Gervinho was doing quite well at Arsenal - because we had him we could afford to loan out Arshavin. He then came back from the African Cup of Nations knackered and then got injured for awhile and then was risked at the end of the campaign. (If my memory serves).
I doubt M'Vila is too expensive as Arsenal seem willing to invest a bit more money in the squad this summer to ensure we don't have the same start as last year, and that we can actually compete.

I don't understand Wilshere. I've never seen anything special from his 49 pro games. Is it the fact that at 19 he was in the England squad? So was Theo Walnut.

Did you not see his performance against Barca? He was the best midfielder on the pitch that day. Trust me he was good, although the injury might hamper him

I don't know. I haven't seen Wilshere play for so long I'd forgotten about him until he was mentioned above. Might well be a career ruined by injuries, much like Michael Owen. Hope not though, if he's as good as people I know say.
