Re: Big Premier League Signings
I wouldn't want United to sign RVP yes he is a very talented player but we have Welbeck who is showing great promise why stunt his growth and Hernandez who offers us something diffrent.
Playing RVP and Rooney may not be appealing in real life as on paper, both players like to drop deep Rooney working hard and playing the passes and RVp dropping down linking up with play getting touches of the ball. With Welbeck we got someone who can lead the line and the pace to stretch defenders.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
If I was an Arsenal fan I would be irate with my club. The fact that over the past 5 years Arsenal have a net spend of -£21 million (I think) is quite good from a financial point but no trophies. Heck Norwich have a higher net spend than Arsenal the past 5 years and we have spent most of that in The Championship/League 1!

I imagine there would be a fair bit of interest, while you do rate him, a lot of those in world football do. If he was to leave it'd almost certainly be abroad.

I could see him causing havoc in Italy with that speed but apart from that there might be some takers in League One which should suit his level of ability.
In all seriousness, it's pretty obvious he's going to be an Arsenal player for life.

Yeah, Theo has a good reputation around Europe. Guardiola and Messi were big fans iirc.

Maybe Newcastle can snap him up, he'll be a huge improvement on Obertan.

Obertan is embarrasing, whoever scouted him at Man Utd while he was Bordeaux must of been sacked. I'd rather stick with HBA on the right instead of Theo. I hear Woodgate has gone back to Boro'!

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Yeah he has. He's signed a contract but is now out for 4 months with a wrist injury.
Walnut would do well in Italy.

If someone signed Walcott to play as a striker it would work out nicely, his pace is fantastic and his finishing is very underrated.

4 league titles, 3 carling cups and a champions league says diffrent. He is a good player, you don't play in big matches for United if you are rubbish.

I know he is a decent player, but if he was still that good United would be keeping him wouldn't they

Lets be fair, he's picked because he runs a lot and United have no good holding midfielders to stifle the opposition.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
park is finished now what is he 31? looked out of sorts last year and hardly used, retired from international duty and everyone in asia has bought his kit. new generation of asian superstar has come through and thats kagawa.
5m for Park is ridiculous offer from QPR, dont make sense that deal.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
QPR could do alot worse than Park. He has an excellent attitude and will run through brick walls for the cause. On top of that he's a better player than he's given credit for.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Olly because a player leaves United don't mean they are not good, I still think he could have moved to a better side maybe wants more game time.
Swann and Rooney is picked because he scores, players offer diffrent things that's why they're picked wouldn't be good if we had 11 skilful flair plays who don't track back.

Since when have QPR started making good transfers? More money than sense there.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
As a QPR fan I will be delighted if we complete the signing of Park, one of the most under rated players in the league.
And makes perfect sense with Fernandes trying to promote us to the Asian market.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
I'm not so sure. I think he went the same way as Kuyt to be honest. Vilified by many for not being excellent, but a lot of support for their work ethic and seen as underrated...but then when do start losing their legs a bit, as Kuyt and I think Park have done, they are still rated.

Why is it that whenever a club signs an Asian player it suddenly becomes all about shirt sales and exposure?

Well Kagawa has it on merit, but Park hadnt really done anything to suggest he was Man Utd worthy.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Man Utd have a new Asian player, therefore Park gets shafted. I think he deserves better in all honesty. Great player for the club and is/was underrated. Ok, he had one bad season, but did any Utd players aside from Rooney and Valencia really sparkle last season? If we're getting rid of players, get rid of Evra.

yer but you cant just get rid of evra like that. firstly you've got to see that evra had young in front of him and under fergie, young doesnt or isnt required to track back religiously like he was under hodgson at the euro's. thts why young had a good season at united where he was able to express himself and not be handcuffed helping out evra. which resulted in evra having to deal with alot and sometimes being doubled up on and admittedly he has lost pace but hes still a quality player. anyway, who you gonna get, there arent alot of quality left backs out there. baines worth £20m, do me a favor.........

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Park is a truely useless footballer, the only thing he was ever good at was falling over.
A lot is made of his ability to run around and movement etc etc which is fine when you are in a team containing Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, non ancient Giggs and Scholes etc
Also a clear message on the main use of asian players for a club like united.

Come on man your better than that. We're all having a more or less sensible debate on here and you have to come wuming, or of course you truly believe Man Utd have been playing a "useless player who was only good at falling over" in massively important premier and champions league games?
He was of course not useless.
Parks ability to get into the right position in the box at the right time is totally under rated to the point of not being noticed....normally as he would fluff his lines and miss, but nevertheless he was getting into those positions in the first place. As someone alluded to earlier Park was mostly used as a nullifier by man to manning in certain CL games (due to a lack of defensive midfielders)....to pretty good effect I might add. It'll be nice to see what he can do with the shackles released if you like, although I'm not to sure QPR are that club. Could have been a great signing for Swansea though.

Agree with this completely. Anthony Pilkington tore him to shreds at Carrow Road. Now he is decent, but that's not a good sign for Evra

Jan Vertonghen can play LB but he appears to be on his way to Spurs. Maybe the other Rafael brother; he looked a little bit better defensively than the other brother. Is Clyne a LB?

Re: Big Premier League Signings
The Brazilian brothers are so over-rated in my opinion. I know Rafael is appaling and when I've seen Fabio he hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Clyne is a right back who Newcastle have been heavily linked with. Apparently Mamadou Sakho has told PSG that he wants to leave for a cut price after losing his place in the first team. Unsurprisingly Newcastle United are linked. I heard this guy was the next big thing in France about three years ago but his career seems to have stagnated. Will be interesting to see if anything materialises.

Re: Big Premier League Signings
Yes, but Rafael is 21 and been at Man Utd since 08/09 playing 50+ apps. I haven't seen any real improvement from him and he was responsible for a majority of foul ups last season defensively and his positional play is extremely poor, as shown against Everton. Fabio is the one who is injured basically every week. I think United fans have given them time and been very patient but are not witnessing huge improvement you would expect.

Cheers Olly. There's never any young LB's about. They just seem to appear.
I think the Rafael brothers are wing backs and nothing more. I've seen much more of Rafael than Fabio. Apparently, in Brazil, one of them was a natural FB and one was a winger. I'm not sure which was which but I think Fabio was the FB.

I've said this many times, but I'll say it again. It's total rubbish. One of the main problem's about Ashley Young's performances at Euro 2012 was that he DIDN'T track back, which left Ashley Cole completely isolated. Most wingers should be able to track back and still attack, that's part of the job of their position, if they can't do that then they aren't that good of a winger. Most wingers, bar Ronaldo, tracked back at Euro 2012, Ashley Young didn't and it was a deficiency in his game.
This is without even mentioning what somebody else has said; he didn't do well going forward. Across the whole tournament he put in just one good cross, and didn't have any good shots on goal. He was absolutely useless.
He played well in the friendly games under Hodgson's tactics so I don't agree that it has anything to do with them. I think he just had a poor tournament.
