Friday fun - Player trade.
First topic message reminder :
Simples, you must trade one of your top players for a top player of another country.
Don't come as a scottish supporter and say you want to trade Dan Parks for Dan carter as the deal won't go through. you want a top player, you have to swoop it with a top player from another country.
If someone puts up a trade, the others may shoot it down if they deem it not being a fair trade. You also have to say why you want to trade the player. Form doesn't matter much as that can be sorted, it is a class.
So if I say I will swop bismarck du Plessis, and he is rated arguable the best hooker in world rugby, I can then trade for an arguable best player in another or similar position.
So my trade will be Bismarck du Plessis for Dan Carter.
I want dan carter as we are in dire need of a playmaker, our back line will be twice as dangerous with dan Carter. Bismarck is great, but we have plenty of depth there.
Think about the pivotal positions, like 2, 8, 9, 10, 15.
Be smart about it.

But he's Irish anyway!
You can't have a guy called O'Connor playing for England.
It's just not right.

Luke Charteris for Ben Morgan. England seem to be short of stand-out locks whereas Wales are in abundance atm and Morgan could slot in perfectly alongside Warbs and Lydiate.

No thanks. We've better locks than Charteris. I think you should keep him as Ian Evans and Bradley Davies don't really cut the mustard. AWJ is ok but nothing special.Knowsit17 wrote:Luke Charteris for Ben Morgan. Charteris! - Offer them B.Davies or AWJ maybe, not Charteris or Evans though. Morgan wouldn't even be first choice.

If he played like he did against France and Ireland Gatland would be foolish not to start Morgan. Definitely a better carrier than Faletau on respective current form.

What better locks would those be? Not Parling. Certainly not Botha. Lawes is debatable but indisciplined and besides has never played as well as Charts did during the WC.

Chateris would behind Parling, Lawes, Palmer at least. You could happily keep him and we'll keep our only decent 8! Now if it was Warburton we'd be talking

CJersey....you seem quite into this.
Would you be interested in a fantasy AP game on here? We've got Sarries available, its pretty much just player swapping and predicting on games.

Give me a PM if you fancy it

So you say. If he was English it would be quite a different story. His lineout and tackling are a step above what I've seen from Parling/Palmer/Lawes (unless you count illegal tackling in Lawes' case)

If he was English, you obviously wouldn't rate him.
You're kind of missing the point of the article, both sides would have to be happy with a swap. Chateris wouldn't make our bench.

Re: Friday fun - Player trade.
Charteris would be Englands superstar!!!! Him and Lawes would make a decent combo, Parling, palmer, and Botha are poor locks in comparison to charts!
I don't rate Evans as highly as Charteris, or Davies who are Wales best combination, and all 3 would comand the top 3 spots for England!
I'd consider Evans for Morgan.
CJ
You are not getting JOC for Corbs!!! Cole maybe!

I'll stick you on the waiting list if you want mate, started a new AP game and we get the odd space come up.
You can seriously keep Charteris and Evans.
Be interested in Jenkins, Warbs, Roberts, North though....could go big

The only boys I'd be interested in for those players though would be Cole, Flood or Foden. 1/2p over Foden cos we don't have a goal kicker elsewhere, Jones our best player ahead of Cole. Flood I would love to see with Roberts North and Cuthbert being used as strike runners.
You know what, maybe contravesially I would go...
Warbs and Jenkins

1. Jenkins
2. Hartley
3. PDJ
4. Lawes
5, Parling
6. Robshaw
7. Warburton
8. Morgan
Is a pretty tasty pack....just need to swap Farrell for a FH than can pass now! What would you be after for Priestland? Ireland...fancy something for Sexton? NZ....Cruden?

Yhats a tasty pack, but without a scrum! And an average lineout!
I'd fancy ...
Jones
Rees
Cole
Charteris
Evans
Lydiate
Tipuric
Falatau
In the set piece any day!!! I tell you what though, that'd be one hell of a BR battle!!

Re: Friday fun - Player trade.
PDJ is a solid TH, as good as Cole in the set piece but not as good around the park. Just need to keep Stevens away from the side!
Parling is a quality lineout lock and Lawes is capable although missing the nounce to lead.
I think we'd dominate set piece tbh, Jones effect is negated by switching to LH and think PDJ could do a job on him. I'd also fancy Parling and co to take apart your lineout.
Funny how little we rate each others sides sometimes

Why put Jones at LHP
Gethin and Jones is far better than Cole and Jones.

Agree that moving Jones would be a mistake. However, Cole is close to his level now. I'd be worried about the scrum with Jenkins in there. He's been pretty awful there recently.wales606 wrote:thebluesmancometh wrote:Yhats a tasty pack, but without a scrum! And an average lineout!

??? Since when?
Adam Jones would be no better at LHP
Gethin is not picked for his scrummaging, and he is still a good scrummager and one of the best LHPs in the world. His turnover in the Blues game just now led to a try. Adam Jones and Cole are 2 of the least mobile props in international rugby - good THPs though

Re: Friday fun - Player trade.
I said it's a mistake to move Jones. Bring in a proper loosehead who can scrummage. Not Jenkins.
Jenkins WAS one of the best LHs. Not any more. You say his turnover led to a try, but his scrummaging contributed to his side being out of the game.
Cole's mobility has improved a lot recently. He's much more mobile than Jones and gaining on his scrummaging.

A THP secures the scrum, Gethin is not the reason the Blues scrum is bad - in fact he is the only thing keeping it competant. A LHP attacks the THP, but can only do that if his THP is not being walked back at a speed of knots, which Andrews has all season.
Watch Wales play and tell me when you see their scrum in need of strengthening because they are going backwards.

Jenkins is ONE of the reasons for the poor scrum at the Blues. I didn't say it was just him.
Anyway, this is supposed to be a fun thread, so let's leave the whole "my player is better than your's" at the door, eh?

Re: Friday fun - Player trade.
The scrum isn't the same animal these days, the TH is no longer the rock, and LH the attacker. They are all hit and chase men, you lose the engage you lose the scrum, simple as. It's an 8 man hit, and you could put two of the best scrummagers in the world in front of 6 men who can't bind, time, or explode into the engage and they will be turned inside out. Props don't get to scrummage too much these days!!!
My reasoning behind moving Jones to LH is that if Jenkins is at loose Cole can deal with him, especially if Hartley is inside him, and Jones V PDJ... only one winner!!!

If it was PDJ at LH and Jones at TH I'd agree, personally think PDJ would smash Jones at LH. DJ is a very strong scrummager at TH, easily the best back up for Cole.
Hartley is excellent here also, would def fancy our chances

Then you would be very dissapointed!!!
Hartley is a weakness and part ofd the reason I rate Cole so highly! When PDJ plays 3 games in a row at club level he can get a shot at int level!

Pooly you can have the original Warbs, with the likes of Tipuric behind him although he's world class he isn't irreplacable... unlike Jones and a few others!

Re: Friday fun - Player trade.
England need a 7 so I went for Pocock. I then thought what can we offer Australia, and Corbisiero is one of the few England players who I think would walk straight into the Australia starting line-up.
I rate Corbs really highly, I think he's going to turn into a top International loose-head (not there yet though). However Marler is also a very good player and could really develop under Graham Rowntree, so I don't think the step down from Corbisiero to Marler would be that great.
I won't offer Cole because he's my favourite player (as a tight-head prop myself), but I will offer both Corbisiero and Doran-Jones for Pocock. And Matt Stevens (you can have him anyway!)
I'll also offer New Zealand Ben Youngs for Wayne Smith.
