Re: The Reaction Game
good guess... really?
Aussies are usually filthy on the field. Not necessary imo. Waste of energy. Let your actions do the talking I say!

Was never a dressage competitor, just learnt it as a kid at my uncles, he was into the horses.
Only became a hockey fan since i lived here in Holland where they are mad for it.

Re: The Reaction Game
Ah, I'm only joking, only thing that annoys me about hockey is being able to use on side of the stick. I never really got that. It's just a more primitive less good version of hurling.

Re: The Reaction Game
I prefer hockey. More countries play it and we are the best over time. No body even comes close... except perhaps Holland and Germany... maybe Pakistan and India when they were half decent.

Kenny... was stretching things in above post. Not meant to be taken seriously.
I'm the same. Look at that gymnast (in slow motion)... wow! Also sports like archery, kayaking, BMX... even the horsey stuff. Those animals have great attitude in the dressage and the setting is fantastic.

Re: The Reaction Game
I was about to say (might write an article once it's over) the English folk should really feel proud of these games. The friendly atmosphere, sporting successes, great venues... everyone on a high. Is it not time they put the 'always something wrong, complaining about everything' mentality behind them as a nation and step up a notch? I've always felt you don't give yourselves enough credit. It should be a turning point for the people's confidence. Once the Games are over - you'll feel a little down as a nation. Then the cynics will return saying "what good did that do, etc" Bullsh1t... that's so negative. Those sorts should be gagged from speaking publicly and forced to acknowledge better ways of living.
In return, Australia should just shut up, stop boasting and underestimating their opposition (look at the medal count) and have more manners, decency and learn to speak a bit better while they're at it. Too much to ask but we could all be so much better off.

Re: The Reaction Game
I cant be doing with all these people who are moaning about how successful GB has been
I loved the quote from the guy in charge of GB cycling when a French journo asked him how GB were doing it ( intimating that they were cheating ) and the GB guy said " Our wheels are really round which is helping us go faster "
And the idiot French journo printed it !!!!

Re: The Reaction Game
There's always that extreme too... like a couple of bullish posters on here.
Some Aussies are the same when we are doing well but generally they do not know their place in the big scheme of things. I wonder what China is saying about themselves and everyone else?
I just think we (English speaking people so Yanks included) need to show more graciousness when we do well and give others some more credit. Maybe the time is ripe to start a movement... it would get lots of 'hits' in the media and really cause some debate about 'who we think we are - what we really are'.
