That let's all the other neighbouring crooks know when you are leaving too.

True story from about 30 years ago. Dad saw these guys loading the neighbour's lawn mower onto the back of a ute. He went over and even held the door open when they said "X is lending it to us since ours is broken." They seemed a very friendly lot of blokes.

The next day he says to the neighbour - "oh, your friends came over to pick up the mower yesterday"

"What?" the neighbour says. "No such arrangement... they must have been bloody thieves!"

"Oh.." says Dad. "Sorry... but I thought... anyway, you can borrow mine"

He opens the garage door and ours is gone too.
He later said he thought it was a bit strange when he saw about half a dozen mowers on the back of the ute. (one being ours).

To this day whenever I see those handymen utes full of gardening equipment in the back I wonder if the 'business' is still going strong.

My Grandad did something similar with one of his neighbours cars , these two blokes were struggling to push this car so Grandad goes out to see what they are doing

" Oh were just taking taking it to be fixed , theres a problem with the starter motor "

" Hang on i will give you a push " says Grandad

So he's helping these two blokes steal one of his neighbours cars !!

They get half way down the road and the guy whos car it is comes running out of his house , so the two blokes scarper leaving Grandad with a puzzled look on his face and a angry neighbour wanting to know what the hell he was doing

Kind of similar thing happened when I was still living back home.

There was work being carried out on a house near us, new roof or something, and there was a load of scaffolding up round the house. It had been there for many days.

7.30 one morning a group of blokes turned up with a flatbed truck and started dismantling the scaffolding. When questioned about what they were doing they replied that the job was almost done, the scaffolding no longer required and they were taking it to start another job. They were left to continue the dismantling.

Turns out the job wasn't done, the scaffolding was actually still required, and they had brazenly nicked the lot!

I know its wrong but you have to give some people some kuddos for their brazen cheek

I know Kenny, I'd never have the bare-faced cheek to pull a stunt like that! Just goes to show what rewards a plausible story and confidence can reap.

I suppose thats why they call them confidence scams

There's a few others going around here. These so called 'council workers' turn up and say that your driveway needs resurfacing but unfortunately the owner will have to pay some of the cost. Next thing - the work is done so quickly and poorly using cheap materials - and the owner is presented with the inflated bill.

Right i should let everyone know that i have been tasked with gathering payments for posts on the thread so if you could just send me a £1 for every post you have made and i shall make sure that it goes to the right place

Do we have to pay tax on our posts? If so, we're phucked!

Keep it quite but i think we should be exempt , we will just charge everyone else

At least we are earning good interest.

Been there a few times and have seen some bad things but to be honest I've grown out of it after the bombings and the feral tourists that go there now.
