I’ve just had an English uncle ask me if there is any significance in the Pet Shop Boys being blasted out at Ravenhill every week and I wasn’t actually able to answer him.

Does anyone know of the origins of the Ravenhill crowd singing this?

I don't really know to be honest. Probably evolved naturally.

It's a catchy, up-tempo, very easy to remember tune. Which makes it ideal to be appropriated as a sports chant.

T'was ever thus!

Although it did take us a few seasons to learn all the words!

If anyone is interested my kids wrote about 4 verses of new words on the way down to Dublin last Saturday!
