How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
I'd like to see QPR show some backbone and terminate his contract with immediate effect although I'm not sure it's that simple?
His actions today were just vile.
But such is football the cretin will probably turn up at another club after putting pen to paper on another bumper contract. It kinda sucks really.
And from a sporting perspective he's not really that good anyway but I digress.
Cheers guys.

I would give him a bit of Brian Clough love and punch his guts out!
I would then terminate his contract.
Football has no place for this scumbag. He has been given chance after chance and has spat in the face of his team-mates, manager and fans. It would take a brave and naive manager to take him on and think they could get anything positive from him.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
He'd actually rebuilt his reputation over the past year, I know a lot of people defended him as a reformed man and now he has just thrown it away for no reason. I really won't be surprised if his contract is terminated and I hope no club signs him, although as Marlon King was still being signed by clubs I won't hold my breath.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
For those who missed what he did:
1) Elbowed Tevez off the ball
2) After being red-carded, Joey kicked Aguero in the leg while Aguero had his back to him
3) Tried to headbutt Kompany
4) Tried to go for Mario but was restrained
Should bring back National Service.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
Do you know what I watched a documentary a few weeks back on homophobia in football and Barton was the only top flight player to speak up on the issue and he came across as articulate and intelligent. I came away from that thinking he's not such a bad guy after all but then this...
I'm no doctor but he shows all the signs of a bipolar personality. I remember Karl Henry ploughing through him for 90 minutes at Wolves a couple of years back and he was quite restrained yet there are other times like today where he just flares up over silly little things so maybe it is a mental thing? Medication perhaps?
The sending off was bad enough in itself but his actions after surely warrant a sacking? How old is he now? 29? It's a bit late in the day to expect change.
A Brian Clough style punch in the guts? I'd pay to see that!

Whatever he gets isn't enough. Clearly hasn't learned his lesson.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
I agree that he has shown at times that when his head and heart are in the same harmony he can be a good player, but today shows that he lacks the mental discipline to put the club first before his own personal issues.
Too much of central self thinking individual that lacks any personal pride. If you were a manager looking at him. Nearly 30 and he has a massive rap sheet and has not shown he has learnt or matured from his previous mistakes. With all the problems his brother had I thought that in itself would've been a big shock enough to the system to be able to change his character slightly and do his family proud.

There's a good video of the entire incident. F**k off Joey, we're all sick of you now, take Mario with you as well please.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
I'm sure Stoke went in for him at the start of the season and for some reason I can see him turning out for them next season. He's exactly the type of character that Harry Redknapp would have signed a few years back but obviously Spurs is a different kettle of fish.

I had to laugh at this I have just read:
Joey Barton tries to single handedly re-ignite Falklands war by doing Tevez and then Aguero.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
From that video, it's difficult to say - they all seem to be pretty minor. I think he kneed Aguero in the leg - difficult to tell how solid the impact was. It is not like he is kicking someone with his boots and punching someone in the head, which is something you see in rugby and elsewhere. Balottelli, put his arm around Barton and shepharded him off the field. Mountains and molehills perhaps.Duty281 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZYkTJmu54E&feature=related

Da Jong karate kicked Alonso in the chest in the world cup final and got away with it. The previous World Cup final, Zidane heat butted Materazzi in the chest and got sent off. Those were "proper" assaults compared to what can be seen in the video clip from Barton.

I think that was Richards that was escorting him off the field Nore.

It was Richards.
He then tried to fight Balotelli

What's happened with Micah Richards - does he still have the knee problems. At one stage he was looking likely to be the next great central defender for England.FreekShow wrote:I think that was Richards that was escorting him off the field Nore.

He was expected to have won 50 England caps by now. A strange one Richards.

Watching that Duty, Balotelli why an earth is he getting involved!!
I can't see Barton ever playing a PL game again.

I'd be more disappointed if he hadn't tried to get involved, just seen this clown take down two of his team mates, rather see him doing that than sat not caring.

With the title on the line hampo, I wouldn't want my sub being red-carded before he even stepped out on the field. Barton was carded and as the commentator said, he will be dealt with another time.

Re: How would you deal with Joseph Barton?
He's 21 at the end of the day, the way he reacted to that isn't that different from the way you reacted at your cricket match yesterday, he felt Barton had taken the mick and wanted to do something about it. Glad he was restrained but rather him show emotion than nothing.

It's alot different hampo. I wasn't trying to instigate a situation. My protest was a silent one.

The whole incident is funny. There's no other word for it. It's just so ridiculous. Was there any truth in Barton saying Tevez started it?

It's just sad that Barton is given so many chances. Over and over again. If he proclaims to be such an intelligent lad then surely he would have been able to 'rise above' what Tevez was doing right?

There seemed to be a bit of a kick from Tevez, but it went un-noticed. Barton lost his head and almost cost his team their Premier League status.

Yeah I'm hearing Tevez did something. Apparently, on Twitter, Barton says Tevez punched him in the head?

Chelsea had Terry, Lamps, Cole....
City have Richards, Hart, Kompany...
The whole "buying the title" argument is getting old, all sides who have ever won a major league in recent years have "bought the title" due to the nature of the game at the moment.

Barton should be suspended for around 5-10 games. No need for that act of thuggery. Fantastic player but complete headcase kind of describes him.

I don't think he means he wanted to injure them, that knee certainly wouldn't, but start a fight that would get one of their players sent off as well.

Knee to the back of the knee is a fairly good way of giving somebody a deadleg.

Ill give you hart and richards...Kompany is belgian and player of the season...but where else for English interest.
If you walkked out on your job like Tevez would you be happy with yourself....i wouldnt.
Terry, Lamps and cole...for how many years input from the Abrahmovic era? And only Terry came through the ranks. And Sturridge....ironically a man City kid.....
Bought the title may be old and boring but its a fact. Citeh have bought the title.

But is he though? He is really that good? I'd say he's average at best. Shaun Derry is a better player.
