Can Gavin H***** finally be put to bed now?
Looks like that is it now then for the Orange one. Good news is that his RUGBY career was so short and uneventful that he won't even be remembered that much unless you're an avid z list reality TV enthusiast.

Idris, do you think he can resurrect himself at Ulster?
Re: Can Gavin H***** finally be put to bed now?
I think Ulster would rather have him for more than 2 matches, but can't see them going anywhere near him.

I don't think Jesus could resurrect him for a God XV v The Baa Baas Charity match - For me however he will be remembered as a great rugby talent who made a significant contribution to welsh rugby. He didn't make the most of his undoubted skills due to his temperament but a quality player he was and anyone who doubts that is incapable of looking beyond his personality. Thanks for the memorys Gav, good and bad and have a good one

My mind is there are more people now who doubt this undoubted skills than before in time.
Did Henson never reach a potentials? or did he never have a potentionals? Did he know this? did he leave the game alone to keep the status as fallen legend? or was he scared to try? My mind is both lack of ambitions or lack of mental strenghthenings or lack of talent all sum up to indication a man who can not make the first combinator.

Hensons rugby career depends on London Welsh getting promoted. If they do then Henson will be playing under Lyn Jones in the Jeff. Lyn is one of the few coaches who has got the best out of Henson, wouldnt at all suprise me if he found form in Richmond under him.

A bit leftfield but I reckon if (and its a big if) he seriously wants to play rugby again he needs to shun the media spotlight and therefore London like the plague.
In fact anywhere in Europe will be a problem.
Possible solution - the Eastern Province Kings.
the EP kings are to be granted Super Rugby status from next year in place of the Lions. They are based in PE (a medium sized city in the south of SA). Their side is very very bad though and not close to super rugby standard so they need players of calibre.
Henson could do a job there I'm sure and he may fulfil a probable ambition... playing super rugby.
It won't be easy though... the team are not up to standard and other than a few Lions players they won't be ransacking the other franchises for talented players so expect a torrid time.
Nevertheless I'm sure they would be interested.

To be honest he is another Barry John. People will bang on and on about how good he was/could have been if he didn't cut his international career short (or in Hensons case full career). I reckon in 15 - 20 years time he will be in the paper writing about how it doesn't matter what the current team do they will never match up to the team of the naughties.

And that is why you will never understand how good this lad was as a consequence of those 2 myths being peddled - The most powerful defensive centre in Europe - Go watch as all you're gonna get on here is based on his rather flakey personality as opposed to his ability

IRB young player of the year, matched the world record for kicks in an international, was the ospreys top scorer until Biggar caught up this year, Twice a Grand Slam winner, British Lion, Wales have not lost a six nations match that he has started, excellent defence, beautiful distribution and deceptively quick with an innate rugby sense on the pitch that is only matched by his lack of brains off it.
Quite simply Gavin was the best young player I have ever seen on the training pitch certainly the most talented. Sadly he never fullfilled his potential, He should be on about 80 caps but celebrity, petulance, injury and spending too much time in church did for him.
I would love to see Gavin go to the Exiles and really produce somthing close to his best form to finish his career in a way that doesnt leave so many unfullfilled dreams.

Actually we have, Ireland in Cardiff 09.
He was a talented player, though I find the amount of hype or hatred circulating around here when it comes to Henson is often blown out of proportion.
I personally don't see him as the godsend who sabotaged his own mission. He was a good player who might have achieved more but never did as a result of him being a liability to himself, simple as. Those who make him out to be something special turned to something rotten are just opening their mouths to be spoonfed media hype.

Come on dude... the world record for kicks in a test match is not exactly a career highlight... it might seem impressive but wasn't that because he just happened to be kicking when Wales played Japan or someone similar and beat the 100-0.... with most kicks being in front of goal??? If thats the case then I reckon Adam Jones could have got the record that night if he was played.
If that makes a great player then all hail Simon Culhane….. Who?
I don't hate the guy or what he's done, its his life so he should be free to do what he likes... he was talented but I think people should try not to big him up too much.... even if he had fulfilled his potential I still believe that in his generation there would have been better flyhalfs then him (JW, Carter & Cooper), better centres than him (Nonu, BOD, Fioure & Smith and better second five eigths than him (Frans Steyn, Luke McAllister & Matt Giteau).
Its just my opinion but I would say Frans Steyn is/was by far the better player…. He’s faster, stronger, has a better kick, equally good in defence and is far more dangerous as a first receiver as Henson ever was.
Then again I still think Gavin Hastings was one of the best players of his generation... and then when I watch some career highlights from back in the day I realise why most folk tend to laugh my claims off!

I truly thought that Gavin Henson would have gotten a chance in Australi during the sumeer tour.
But seeing that he is not even in the squad, weel i guess is WQales playing days are over.

honestly I agree with all of that, except had Henson realised his talent then he would have been the best 12 or 15 of his generation and an all time great. He didnt and its too late for him now as hes become welsh rugbys gazza but on the training field at 18-19, I was stunned watching him that a child could have the kind of ability with a rugby ball that he did.
