Nasri - Being gracious...
Samir Nasri has aimed a swipe at his critics at former club Arsenal after winning the Premier League title in his first season at Manchester City.
The Frenchman was accused of being a mercenary after rejecting a new deal at Arsenal to join City in a £24million deal last summer.
The 24-year-old feels that his move to City has been vindicated after their title success and he has told his Arsenal snipers to 'celebrate their third place achievement', while he 'focuses on winning titles'.
Vindication
"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money," Nasri told French TV station TF1. "I hope they are watching me now collecting my Premier League winner's medal.
"I believe they have not won a trophy for many seasons now.
"If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team.
"I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me, they should celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles."
Samir Nasri
Quotes of the week
"There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal.
"I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best, and I have proved it correct.

He came to City to be a bit part player while the first team wins trophies.
Alternatively, he came to City because they more than trebled his wages.
Don't see how taking a back seat is more attractive than being at the heart of a team fighting for trophies personally, unless you include the last part.

Rubbish Graeme, he went to City because he's playing with better players. If he moved for more money, well that's business everyone moves for money. Anyone would rather play for a team aiming for the title than a team aiming for 4th.

I think it's a bit of both to be honest
I actually believe he left arsenal because he wanted to challenge for trophies which he didn't think he could do there
However I believe it was pretty close to being a done deal to sign for us before city came in and blew our contract offer out of the water so he went there instead

so was Ashley Young 2nd choice then Gazzy?
City don't need to blow your contract out of the water though.. they could offer Nasri say 2,000 p/w more than what Man U were offering and he would pick City.

Its a bit of both like Gaz said. The team with all the money to buy the best players want you over a team that hasn't the funds to buy the best players and haven't won a trophy for 7 years, you can't blame the guy.
I thought utd had him until he decided on city, maybe due to the contract but again I think its because utd weren't really going out and buying any big name players, where city were buying Silva, Aguero and YaYa. I don't the guy is brilliantly managed by his agent but I think with a project like cities and the chance to be a part of it and earn mega bucks, I can't blame the guy too much.

Shock horror, a footballer moves to a better team and gets more money for doing it, how can he live with himself.

Not sure why he is trying to justify himself! I wouldnt give a flying but its obvious he has gave this some thought.
He has not been the same player at City then he was at Arsenal. Am sure most will agree with that statement

Not the same player because he's playing in a much better team so he's gone from big fish small pond to big fish big pond.
