Does including Terry and dropping Ferdinand send out the wrong message?
It is my belief that Terry has been vey bad for the international side. He has been a divisive figure in the dressing and not conducted himself the way a captain should off the field. I believe he should have been dropped from the squad long before now.
At present, he has a hearing hanging over him regarding allegations of racism towards Ferdinands brother. The verdict remains unclear but what is clear is that having Terry and Ferdinand in the same dressing room is not an option for England.
GHiven whats hanging over Terry, his divisive nature and his behaviour both during his captaincy and after does it send out the wrong message including him but leaving out Ferdinand? I appreciate some will say that Terry deserves the spot more on footballing reasons but I believe there comes a point when one has to look beyond this. Ferdinand despite Hodgsons protests would most almost surely have been included were it not for his issues with Terry and he is a more high profile casualty of Terrys behaviour than somebody like Wayne Bridge for instance. But with Terry still trying to assume the position of de facto captain which could undermine Gerrard is it time to just leave Terry out? Is it sending the wrong message inculding him?

The only thing Terry could possibly have brought was leadership - and they've given Gerrard the captaincy! On that basis I do think it's sent a bad message, almost on a level with the Kenny-Suarez mess.

I don't think either has been particularly good this year.
Wouldn't trust Rio to stay healthy personally.

I think Hodgson should have been brave and dropped them both. Personally I think that England Spain match in November showed we don't need them anymore.
Also at their age without England duties they can rest and recuperate better and it should help lengthen their club careers.

His name is Rio and he watches from the stands

Rio is and was twice the player Terry was and ever will be. Its because Terry throws himself in front of the ball he get's noticed more, us Brits love a bit of bull dog spirit don't we.
What I didn't like is when he said it was purely footballing reasons, yet Rio has had a very good season for Utd considering the awful start he had, plus Terry probably had his worst season ever for Chelsea, is going on trial after the Euro's for racism charges, and almost cost his club side champions league glory and still had to get in on the party, or as Savage summed it up perfectly 'other kid blowing out the candles' analogy.
