Bold or Bald Prediction - Roger to win FO 2012

I am gonna call it a Bold prediction but the reality will say whether its Bold or Bald as usual .

I donno know whether you hear it from here 1st, 2nd or 3rd or last , I call it Federer to lift FO 2012

The great man will have a sizzling end to his career and will regain his no.1 slot. I am not gonna count the no. of slams he gonna win, but gonna go with the prediciton Federer to win FO 2012.

Lemme see how many believe my prediction to come true, pls replay with probabilities.

I am sorry, but the only way for Roger to win RG 2012 is for Rafa to be eliminated before the final. Otherwise, it will be title #7 for Rafa.

I think Roger has a shot if the Babolat balls are used.

Being lighter and supposedly harder they move through the court quicker and allow Fed to be more aggressive.

We saw last night the problem Roger has against the great movers and retrievers when the conditions are heavy and slow. He can't hit through them and he can't outlast them in the long rallies.

I agree that he has very lttle chance against Nadal at RG regardless of which balls are used. He would need to fall early.

This is just a game, and upsets are common, I would be delighted if my upset come true, if not move on and predict the next one, its all about how you take the life.

I rather predict and fail rather than be on the safer side and do nothing.

Never a Nole fan nor do I hate him, I do like his game thou , today's match is interesting coz in every case its a win win situation for RF, if Nole lose his point tally goes down badly and that would help Roger close in on the no.1 spot, if Rafa lose its pretty much garunteed that he will end up as No.2 and most likely scenario that Rafa will be on Nole's draw.

I don't think RG organizers would love to have Roger-Rafa semi's rather they will punt on Roger-Rafa finals and Rafa -Nole semis. We all know how draws are rigged secretly.

This is a bold prediction which could happen....there are two unknown caveats (@ the moment) though:

a) Djokovic needs to win today (keeping Fed @ #2)
b) Nadal is drawn in Djokovic's half of the draw @ RG

[b] can only happen if [a] happens, so they're different sides of the same coin. Even if [a] happens though, there's only a 50/50 chance that [b] will happen. However, if all the stars align for Fed in terms of today and the draw @ RG, yes Fed stands a good chance and of course being usually regarded the under dog for RG should take a bit of pressure off him which should help him (if yesterday is anything to go by).

Your bold prediction may happen in very particular circumstances, if Federer has to play Nadal @ RG though, all bets are off, Nadal will win, in 4 sets or in 5, it won't matter. Playing Djokovic in a final @ RG though, let's be realistic, Fed may be older, but he does play finals against Djokovic well and in a 5 setter, Fed can turn a match around. Had yesterday been Bo5, you do feel Fed could have turned it around, but in a Bo3 there just wasn't enough time. Coming to boil late in the 2nd set is just too little too late in a Bo3 set match but in a Bo5 set match, you still got a chance.

However, let's not get too downcast, Fed's record @ Rome and in other tournaments this year has been good and losing to Djokovic here isn't a big shocker. It only appears a shock because Fed has been in such superb form. Remember, this is still clay. Then factor in, one of his worst tournaments on clay (never won it). Then factor in that both his opponents (in semi and would have been, if he'd got there, final) have won it. Thus in context, not a huge shock. The only place he has won on the Masters 1000 tournament on clay was Madrid (and it's forerunner, Hamburg) and he won there last week.

The main thing is Fed can't beat 2 persons in a row at this age to win RG, so one of them knocks the other out specially if Nole knocks Rafa out, Roger do have great chance to reclaim the crown he won 3 years back.

Yes all stars have to shine on Roger's side for that to happen, he had some bad luck in the past like Wimb 2008, AO 2009, USO 2009, so its time they shine back at him and I guess it will.

Luck evens out. I think he had enough at Wimbleon 2009 when poor old Roddick lost after about 427 games by being broken once.

Agree there BB. That Wimbledon final in 2009 looked lost in that 2nd set tie breaker and Fed had to save 3 (or was it 4) set points to eventually win that set.

I agree invisiblecoolers, facing both Djokovic and Nadal is a step too far and on clay, definitely too much, even for Fed. I'm unsure if it's an age factor though. If it was Wimbledon or the USO, maybe Fed could pull it out but we've never been in that situation before. Grass court and fast hard court certainly evens things up for Fed but on a surface like clay & @ RG, Fed does need things to fall his way, rather like in 2009 @ RG.

In a one-off he can beat anyone on clay except Nadal, unless he really plays out of his skin. That's why Djokovic winning in Rome really matters. Facing Djokovic after he's just gone 6 hours in a RG semi with Nadal sounds very do-able.

Can't see Fed taking FO, but can see him winning this years Wimb or US. As above poster says though, should those 2 reach semi, he has a chance.

With Roger losing no.2 ranking to Rafa its pretty clear the no.1 and no.2 will not meet b4 finals and hence either Roger have to eliminate them both or one of them be elimiated by somebody else, so the chances goes down to 10% now.

I still stick to guns and predict Roger to lift the trophy, tougher the draw excels the man, its good Roger has a tough draw, anybody who has Del Potro/Berdych will struggle, but tough match ahead of Nole only gonna improve Roger's chances.

Nole be ready the mastero is on.

I always feel the greats of the game end up with complete cv and I wont be surprised if Fed wins a few more GS , Olympics and get back the no.1 before retiring in 2014. My exepcted guess is he would not last beyond 2014.
