The Dew Drop Inn ERC 2012 Commemorative Pub, Dublin
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The Pub has followed the victorious Leinster team home after last week's Heineken Cup final for a liver-busting celebration.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of the late Simon "Human Windmill" Pitney or those of all the HEC and Amlin Cup finalists.

Priestlands problem is his place kicking but I think place kicking only gets you so far these days. The space these days is up the 10/12 channel and if you have a 10 and 3/4 line to exploit that then you are in a strong position.
Unfortunately that is something the Irish management haven't copped on to yet.

Morning all: to be fair a 4 1/2 mile run one day then a 14mile walk (Newport-Cardiff coast road) absolutely kills the legs!! Any regs going to the BaaBaa's?

Morning all, 'tis a lovely day. I was too hungover to appreciate yesterday morning, shame I have to work on this one.
The Aussies are going to seriously miss Beale, either at 10 or fullback.
Good luck for tomorrow Biltong!

Thanks Kiwi, I'll need it, law is interpretation and I for one rather write an exam about logic and numbers than outguessing a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo.

I know exactly what you mean.
I only passed first year business law at university because I'd strained my back just before finals, and the painkillers ran out mid-exam*. At about the time I'd finished answering all the questions on interpretation of law (you were given copies of the relevant legislation), and before I got to to all the questions that involved rote memorisation of common law cases (problem soving based on legislation was easy, remembering who X vs Y 19xx were otoh ...)
*I wound up getting the B+ I scored on the mid-year exam, which was all on the NZ constitutional legal framework, and applying principles of legislation to case examples.

Shane Williams was clearly MOTM.

I'd say Nacewa was more prominent throughout the match than Shane was, so seeing as they scored two tries apiece, his overall involvement in the game gives him the nod.

Yes, but only Shane got the winning try and his first was amazing. He can operate in limited space in a way others can only dream of.

MOTM was awarded before Shanes 2nd try Glas, in which case Nacewa had scored the winning try....
Don't think Shane had a good game though, whereas Nacewa was everywhere, but I can't think of many wingers who could have scored those two tries of his (Shanes).

The highlight for me was Ryan Jones ending his post-match interview by saying "top man" to the quite clearly female Dot Davies on S4C.

Not to take anything away from Isa but picking the MOM before the game ends infuriates me.
Obviously its so the TV can collar him as the game finishes but there have been times when it has been announced up to 10 minutes before the whistle.

It is daft, Rava, I agree. Surely it would make sense to wait until a match is over before deciding who's been the stand-out player in it.

The other thing I don't like is when you have an absolute stinker of a match and they're still obliged to nominate someone as man of the match. In the Eisteddfod (where they chair the best Welsh rapper*), you on occasion have the verdict, 'dim teilyngdod', meaning no one was good enough to merit winning the chair. They should apply the same to rugby.

Ryan Jones is in great form, but it's at 6. Toby has been in good form for a seriously under performing Dragons though, so he's still my 8. Wouldn't drop Lydiate either. RJ will also suffer a wee bit for his versatility.

Ryan Jones is the best backrower in Wales on that form. He's playing his best rugby since 2005 imo .

Does that make Keith Earls a 13.25? (covers 11, 13, 141 15)
Re: The Dew Drop Inn ERC 2012 Commemorative Pub, Dublin
No, 141 would mean he's significantly more.

I honestly rate Ryan Jones higher than Lydiate. I think Lydiate did not deserve player of the tournament for a start, but in the Ireland match do any welsh fans think that Lydiate was missed at all? To me, Jones offers everything Lydiate does and more.

Just signed my contract extension through to December (work can't offer a contract past when my visa expires).
Hmmm, the 2 job interviews I have this week are a tad less important now
