The Dew Drop Inn ERC 2012 Commemorative Pub, Dublin
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The Pub has followed the victorious Leinster team home after last week's Heineken Cup final for a liver-busting celebration.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of the late Simon "Human Windmill" Pitney or those of all the HEC and Amlin Cup finalists.

Ah right! One was a men's track and field medallist. The other went on to be Britain's Strongest Man.

Well that's a conservative selection Mr Howley
No, all for it. Bring on the kids, forgotten men and has beens...

How can Rob Howley say with a straight face "we have picked a side on form" and then include Harry Robinson? He's barely played for the Blues!
What a weird-ass selection. But I'm not too bothered by it, even though it's now a 'capped' match. Really looking to see Liam Williams at full back - disappointed not to see Ashley Beck at 12, but hopefully he'll get his chance against the Wallabies.

The WRU really will take any opportunity to get players tied to Wales! This is basically Wales A.

I haven't actually looked at the team lucky, I just think it's funny and strange that Wales award caps for games against the Barbarians. It's not an international match, strictly speaking! Caps are generally reserved for meetings between two test nations.

It does devalue a Welsh cap to some extent. He might not admit it, but I'm sure Martyn Williams would prefer to stay on 99 hard-earned caps than win his 100th like this.

It is Wales A. 'Wales' are on the plane:
Leigh Halfpenny, George North, Jonathan Davies, Scott Williams, Ashley Beck, Alex Cuthbert, Rhys Priestland, Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins, Ken Owens, Adam Jones, Bradley Davies, Luke Charteris, Dan Lydiate, Sam Warburton, Toby Faletau
15. Liam Williams
14. Harry Robinson token youngster/Cardiff player
13. Andrew Bishop
12. James Hook
11. Aled Brew
10. Dan Biggar
9. Lloyd Williams
8. Ryan Jones
7. Justin Tipuric
6. Josh Turnbull
5. Ian Evans
4. Alun Wyn Jones
If this is what they call a break before the tests for these two...
3. Rhodri Jones
2. Matthew Rees (c) there on past glories (Scarlets v Munster 07!)
1. Rhys Gill.
Reps: R Hibbard, P James , A Shingler, M Williams, Webb, A Warren, W Harries
That's a great bench and a sop to Williams

Fine thanks Thomond. It's just ticked over to Thursday here... I'm off to bed shortly. A lot going on here so watching some late news.
Funny weather here. Winter tomorrow (Friday). It's been quite mild.
Nice sunny mornings then rain later in the day and a bit chilly at night.

So, CJ v.d. Linde gets off his biting charge. Surely he could have waited for the team dinner that evening before helping himself to some food on-field.... in the middle of a not-so-important rugby match.

Afternoon and all that
Entered a swimming competition for my squadron today. Had to do the 50m breaststroke and I smashed it. Buzzing.
I know what you're thinking. Is there anything this lad can't do? Legs are killing now from that, gym then soccer. Another afternoon nap I think.

Pfft, that's nothing Rev. So far today I've read at least half-a-dozen reviews of cars I can't afford. That's on top of doing some work.

easy with that. There are only 3 debutants in the starting XV
Harry Robinson (born in Cardiff)
Liam Williams (born in Swansea)
Rhodri Jones (born Aberystwyth)
Of those Robinson is already tied to Wales as he has played for the 7’s side.

That's much more impressive
Things aren't working out so well for my Wales watching. I am at a party on Saturday for my mate's two year old and away for the first test in Oz. Hopefully I'll be somewhere on that day where I can watch it and I suppose I can record the BaaBaas game, but staying away from the score will be a bit of a nause.

The only good thing about it for me is I get another medal and two days off ( Mon and Tues). But what her Maj gives with one hand, she takes back with another, as I'm tasked next Thursday to Monday (ish) by her on that trip.
At least we have no flegs up in my work YET.

I'm glad we're dodging this jubilee nonsense over here. Workplaces wouldn't be able to do that kind of thing I imagine. Would cause a lot of friction and complaints.
However we do have our own divisive nausea inducing celebration of forced, fake Britishness to look forward to this summer

Afternoon All.
Unfortunately they've gone a bit mad in work over this jooblee business. They want everyone to wear something red/white/blue or with the Union Jack on. Being as my Smiths "The Queen Is Dead" tee shirt wouldn't go down well, I'm opting for my Welsh shirt and jeans instead Still, our department isn't going OTT like others who've been told to dress up in royal garb. Like I'd really get on the half six bus in a dress and tiara anyway Speaking of work, it's going really well. Got 100% in my performance review today. Not bad for eight months effort.
