The Dew Drop Inn ERC 2012 Commemorative Pub, Dublin
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The Pub has followed the victorious Leinster team home after last week's Heineken Cup final for a liver-busting celebration.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of the late Simon "Human Windmill" Pitney or those of all the HEC and Amlin Cup finalists.

Yeah he did last season Thom. I've still got a link to his stuff. He also shows the other summer sports though, so I'm not sure if he shows all the GAA or just the last few finals. I'll have a squiz anyway.

Evening all.
Work are having a charity Jubilee bash in St James' Park tonight. I have a ticket, but I'm going to go home and finish prepping for tomorrow morning's job interview instead.

I saw a Red Kite swooping to pick up a bolt off the pavement today as I drove past. I think it thought it was a dead mouse. It left it there anyhow.

Saaaaanjay! So chuffed he's starting!
Really pleased with that Wales side actually.
And I for one can't wait for the Jubilee, I honestly don't mind Lizzie at all, roll on an excuse to have another party! Tis enough doom and gloom these days as it is without adding anything else to it. (my opinion may also have been skewed a bit of late by the fake Elizabeth Windsor twitter account, tis v v funny)
Good luck for tomorrow Kiwi

I am not happy that we are starting Rhodri Jones at TH. (I got excited by seeing Sanjay's name and missed that the first time of looking through the team sheet)

Actually it's Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, from Phillip Though his family used the surname Battenburg until opting for the English translation Mountbatten in WWI

You might enjoy a book by Sue Townsend called The Queen and I. It's a fictional comedy set after the 1992 election and the UK becomes a republic the royals are sent to live on a council estate. It might be dated in places (the Queen Mother is in it for a while) but it's quite amusing.

One of my partners took a stapler home to make jubilee Crowns earlier. Subs bench and I told her she was only allowed to use every third staple.

I wish I had an economics degree instead of my Musical one;
I just can't work out why two days off for everyone in the country for the Queens birthday or whatever this thing is is great, but one day of strike action by, say, some public sector workers is an econmoic disaster that imperils everyone

Ah it's all government spin, Notch. One makes the country look wonderful and the other exposes its problems. Of course it'll cost the economy as did the royal wedding last year because both have created a three day week which is a nightmare for businesses and public services. Apparently, there's a mass exodus on the way...

True Asbo, but because they've moved over that one in addition to the already added Jubilee day, it's created a three day week. I'm not complaining myself as I've got all next week off and only used up three days leave, but from a business point of view it can cause a lot of headaches.

It seems the next School of Hard Knocks is going to be in Wales. One of the guys from last season just tweeted get down to Ystrad Sports centre tomorrow, whoever wants to be involved next time.
Be great to see the programme in Wales.

It's 1/252 working days. Sometimes I think economists just divide GDP by 252 to find out the cost of a general day off, ignoring discretionary spend (boozing and other leisure activities and shopping) that wouldnt happen on a normal working day.

That's why a strike is not as good, because the government think the strikers are all picketing. However by a rudimentary check of Facebook the last teachers strike, they all went shopping anyway.

That's nothing glass. In my work some of our more traditional products have had their package rebranded for the jubilee. You know real British products like cauliflower cheese, cottage pie and of course chicken Kiev.

It's fine to have a list of lawyers act pro bono as they are apparently lining up to do (I suspect it's more likely a conditional fee arrangement), but if they lose, they will have to pay the RFU's costs, and their lawyers will show no mercy.

Cari - great news with the new job
You seemed so unhappy at the last location.
As for the Jubilee stuff, I'm trying to scope out where I can watch the JWC games on Monday. The usual pub will be rammed for a street party outside; and plastic glasses will be the order of the day and no TV. Might have to pop into the Marylebone option after work tomorrow to see if they will be open.
zzzz time folks.

Dat's ma boy, nice to know your MP is down to earth - a cutting from our local paper:
MP JONATHAN Edwards will marry EmmaThomas, his long-time girfriend, in his home village of Capel Hendre on Saturday, November 17, the Guardian can reveal.
Taking advantage of the tradition that women can pop the question on Leap Day , Emma got down on bended knee and proposed to Plaid Cymru’s Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr MP following a St David’s Day reception at the House of Commons on February 29.
“I’m thinking of introducing a Private Members’ Bill outlawing such a practice,”MrEdwards joked this week.
“Our main concern was finding a day that didn’t clash with Wales’ autumn rugby internationals – we play Samoa the day before.”

We have croissants, petit pain, danish pastries, and a coffee and walnut cake that I made last night. Oh and loads of fruit. Don't think I'll be needing lunch today

I wouldn't want anything with too much glass (you see some these days and they have glass walls). I wouldn't feel like I had any privacy in a place like that, even if it was out in the sticks (and my dream house would be out in the sticks, somewhere like Monmouthshire).
