First topic message reminder :

England unchanged. Rampaul and Shillingford in for the Windies.

Windies win the toss and will bat. A great toss to win - runs galore today.

Yeah that could be possible - only 341 runs to get on a flat pitch and against a impotent attack. If KP manages to get to 150 well...mind the windows!

Was getting cricket updates at the Rugby final. England must be looking to bat only once from here.

Strauss doing an excellent job of answering his critics.

Agnew said in his column that Strauss rode his luck? I thought I watched every ball of the England inninings, and can only remember one hard slash through the slips....KP was a different matter. Or was it a case of selected vision because I really like our little captain? I recken we'll be c 500 all out...and clean em out for 250 and win in a canter.....again.

I see everyones shifted from the crushing negativity to mindless optimism again. We want 700!

lets wait and see, England have a strong position here...still behind by quite a bit and batting last of course.

England will only want to bat once. 650+ I imagine, no rush to insert them, still 2 whole days left after this.

Almost time to start, urgent matter of Strauss making more than 6 today and then KP to a 100.

Would like to be closing in on the WIs total by lunch

Um...not everyone.

I think 500 is a realistic target, given England's scoring rate. We need to get the Windies back in before close of play today and give ourselves tinme to bowl them out again. With a deficit of 150-odd I doubt they'll be able to set England too big a target to chase.

KP started well the morning, but not for long, Ravi Rampaul gets him LBW for 80. England 267 for 3. Now Strauss really have to find ways to carry on.

KP gone for 80! That man Rampaul again. Shame for Kev, but he's made a valuable contribution to the innings. Now need Bell to do the same.

No more reviews now for England so they need to make sure they don't give the Windies a sniff.

Runs win matches. Theres just under 3 whole days of play left.

Suggesting we should demote a top player so somebody can have a slog is a bit silly really.

We can count on at least 20 NB's from Roach as well, so no need to slog for a while!

it wasnt my suggestion- i just want the run rate up or at least the same as it was, but it is - so its good. They are playing to the way i want, swapping players based on an in game situ is fine for me as well. Bell has quite a low SR so i can worry about him sometimes

They don't change there strategy. Look at the 3 seamers ....apart from a brief fling with Monty in the winter. Tried and tested is Flowers motto....and we can't complain to much since the Windies debacle a few years back....

If Bell gets in he'll score at reasonable rate. If it was day 4 and after lunch in this situation you might tell him to get a move on, but as it is England can comfortably bat to lunch tomorrow and be confident of a win.

Uh-oh. Bell lbw Roach for 22. England 300-4.

Originally given not out but DRS showed he was plumb.

Lets see if Bairstow can step up when needed. Go Johnny go-go-go!

Well, Roach did deserve some luck. Thank the heavens that wasn't a no ball. The poor guy would have been devastated.
unlike the usual stuff, Strauss is still marching on, and England really need the skipper to stay in long and get the innings back on track anddbuild that big lead. Young Jonny looking good so far. Hopefully, this'll be his day. I had hoped for hundreds from KP and the captain at the beginning of the innings. Strauss obliged, KP just fell shot. Now I hope for a significant batting contribution from Jonny Bairstow and Graeme Swann!!.

they'll have a good lead going into engs second innings and eng won't cope with it. might even have cloud by then.

Oh for gods sake. Only England could get themselves in a good position and the utterly man sausage it up like this,

Poor young lad another one who is not ready for this level then.

Windies will have a lead, they've won this.

Our batting has gone to pieces. Coaching changes needed there surely?

People who reckoned England could be 500 must have forgotten this winter already.

Bairstow did have a tough time out with all those short balls, but better luck for Kemar Roach today. Bairstow might gain a rather unwanted reputation vs short piched bowling early in his career.

Not Jonny-boy's day today.

5 wickets down and England still trail by 50. Scratch what I said earlier. If we can get to 400-450 I think that will be a good score.

Prior off to a good start, but can he do what Cook, Trott and Bell failed to do and convert it into a decent score?

Always been an advocate for a 4th seamer. Surely the Bairstow experiment should be put on hold. Add Finn for the 3rd test prep for the Saffers. Our Batting line up is good enough with our 4 seamers and Swannie....

Prior's been bowled 2nd time on the go, the WI captain strikes.
Tim B's batting skills have to come through for him and more importantly for the side.
England do have the best lower order batting lineup in the world, and a big lead can still be built up, but this certainly has been WI's morning by a long way.
The only possitive for England today so far has been the fact that Strauss has scored more than 7 after restarting on a hundred overnight.
Bresnan is off the mark with a single.

This collapse in fact explains as to why Flower and Strauss stick with 4 and not 5 bowlers. Don't think it would be a good idea to go with 5 bowlers if one of them is not a quality contributer with the bat on a consistent basis.

We've well and truly shot ourselves in the foot here. Only England can do 259/2 to 337/6 but I'd still back England to win.

West Indies' session. Not much went to plan for England. They have to seriously regroup and their lower order will have to step up as they often do.

Not if the '5th bowler' takes timely wickets, and reduces the oppositions total by 30-50 runs? Catch 22.....and we don't need to forfiet easy runs by bowling Trott!

What a joke, windies are a much better batting side.

Show did we get this bad this quickly? In the head or lack of technical ability?
