8. Peter O'Mahony (Cork Constitution/Munster)
Replacements:

17. Ronan Loughney (Galwegians/Connacht)*
18. Donncha O'Callaghan (Cork Constitution/Munster)
19. James Coughlan (Dolphin/Munster)*
20. Paul Marshall (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster)*
21. Nevin Spence (Ballynahinch/Ulster)*

It's also worth noting that no Leinster players were considered for this game due to having played in the RaboDirect PRO12 final on Sunday.

Relax. All part of the Kidney masterplan. Trimble comes in for Ferris, Gilroy takes his place in the squad, Kevin McLaughlin shifts to fullback.

Its our strange coach again. Boss out of the tour injured and an opportunity to see Marshall at this level - warming the bench

Not quite
Ireland recover the kick off and run it to the BaaBaas 22 but Zebo bundled into touch.

Well, even if it wasn't a capped international we saw two future international wings make their first appearances in green and bag their first tries!

Notch I would dearly love those two to be our wingers in two years time. Somehow the sceptic in me can't quite see it happening.

To be fair Rodders you were predicting them to put 50 points on us and be destroyed by them.
We got 4 tries and Im a bit more hopeful.
As for this Barbarians don't kick penalties I never heard that before.

In two years time I don't know who will be coach of Ireland.
http://kidneyclock.net/
Conor O'Shea I hope. Obviously wing is a position we've amazing depth in so I'm happy to be patient whilst they earn their stripes.

I really hope you are wrong there Rava, and I think you may be. Zebo's going and I think after tonight, Gilroy may well be in with a real shout.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Well there we go. What can you say about that one? Virtually nothing as I mostly rely on my eyes to judge.
From the rolling texts it seems we have had a classic enough Irish game of first or second have huff and the other half no puff. Meaning I think it sounded like a non-80 minute game of intensity. But I'd have to see it to be certain. I know Declan looks for wily things when he has his players play these games (meaning I'm certain he was off thinking about the game in different terms to winning it) but... well, I don't know...sounded like a lot of flailing in between the try bits. Maybe I'm being overly harsh... four tries are nice, and to all intents and purposes our side was as much a scratch side as the Barbarian one...

From the IRFU feed
"Thank you for joining us here on O2 Match Day Live. Look out for more coverage of the summer tour here and on Sky Sports"
Seriously? 8 tries.. 6 senior debuts and not even a highlights reel? Sky sports getting the boot tomorrow. I've threatened before but didn't follow through. On 4 chanels tonight they had, ladies golf, cricket, speedway and .... fishing. Get out, out sky sports and take your bleedin ESPN with you and your smelly F1. Begone

Sounded like Wallace had a good game. Rava if our back 3 were scoring tries then I'd assume that Cave did his job tonight.

I was thinking the same. Surely though this proves that Earls belongs in the back three? He always has his best games there.

He'll hate to hear you say that! For a guy who gets a lot of leverage from wing and back and kinda floats out to the wing even when playing centre..he sure does seem to have a grudge against anything other than 13. He bluntly says he dislikes any other position he's put in, is uncomfortable and he do NOT like. Strange man.

... so DOC replaces Tuohy, then despite having the extra height Ireland lose a lineout, field position and subsequent penalty to cost them the game? Is that a stat?

Might not be an official stat but it sure is a question Sin é will be interested in, given that he won't have any visual clues to go on to support his counter arguments..... and there will be those!

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Rodders why are you surprised by the Baabaas kicking at goal.
I know Eric Elwood once scored 4 penalty kicks in one match while playing for Barbarians against the All Blacks.
When we played them in 2010 in Thomond Park they took several shots at goal.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
It just goes against Baa-baas tradition to kick penalties stag.

Oh really? I thought it was an urban myth like how some people say the Lions have an uncapped player in the tour squad.

That's actually another tradition from the Baa Baas. They normally always had one uncapped player in their squad and they would never kick the ball no matter what. Their aim was to entertain and run it from everywhere.

Not sure its a hard and fast rule but its kind of against the Barbarians ethos, which is to play open rugby and run the ball.

Val - I know its a Barbarians traditon about the upcapped guys and the socks but I never heard about the no kicking.
Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Yeah I'm a tad disappointed by that. With the advent of professionalism it seems in order to justify it's existence the baa baas have to win games. Not so from my perspective.
I don't give two hoots anyway. We got closer than I thought we would. Gilroy two trys. I'm delighted although why Paul marshall wasn't used with boss out is really quite poor IMO

The outcomes of these games is pretty meaningless, both Wales and England lost to them last year - It was an opportunity for a few young Irishmen to pull on the green jersey and a decent run out to try some combinations.

Yes which is why Marshall and Spence not coming on is such a poor call.
