It's also worth noting that no Leinster players were considered for this game due to having played in the RaboDirect PRO12 final on Sunday.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Barbarian team to face Ireland
15. Cedric Heymans,
14. Paul Sackey,
13. Mike Tindall,
12. Damien Traille,
11. Iain Balshaw;
10. Felipe Contepomi,
9. Rory Lawson;
1. Duncan Jones,
2. Benoit August,
3. John Afoa,
4. Mick O'Driscoll (capt),
5. Cornelius van Zyl,
6. Mamuka Gorgodze,
7. Francois Louw,
8. Raphael Lakafia
Replacements: Aled de Malmanche, Neemia Tialata, Pelu Taele, Akapusi Qera, Richie Rees, Stephen Donald, Isa Nacewa.
A much improved team from the one which faced England. I'm surprised that Nacewa isnt starting but im sure he'll have an impact from the bench. A frightening back row. Hard to see anything but a BaaBaa win.
Disgraceful that its not on tv. I thought the whole thing about Barbarians was that it was a spectacle.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
I live in such a technology saturated world whereby if I dont see it, it didnt happen.
I just have an issue with reading post match articles. For starters, they are like 0.001% as interesting as seeing the actual match, and also i just dont like reading.
As for those of you complaining about ROG. You will never know how he does tonight anyway. Even if he did badly, what news reporter will turn round in his article and slate ROG? It wont happen.
We will know who scored. We might get a very 1-dimensional account of how the points were scored. We will ultimately have absolutely no blinkin idea how the team performed as a unit or as individuals.
I've sent emails of annoyance to the IRFU, Sky Sports and The Barbarians. IRFU only replied saying they too were annoyed about the lack of coverage but said it was the home team (barbarians) who had the decision whether to get coverage sorted.

Well Gloucester defiantly isn't Ireland's home, so I don't see how they expect to get many through the gate!

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
That backrow is going to mince up our 10-12 axis. I hope ROG has got a few nice skip option moves in the bank because he is going to need them to avoid contact with those savages. Jaysus POM is the only one on the entire team who will be able to live with that physicallity. Tindall and Traille are fairly physical too.
Off their lineouts Contempomi can literally run straight at ROG because if anyone moves in to assist he has ball carriers all over the place.
Those two hate each other too.

Haha cheers Rava. The lad is driving me bananas!
Yeah it's not going to be pretty I don't think. There isn't a single area of the pitch where we are better than them in. Possibly second row and at a huge stretch back 3 but that's it. Are our back 3 going to get the ball at all........?

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
I honestly think if the ball gets past ROG we can do some damage with that backline. We will most likely lose, but i wouldnt go as far as to say it'll be 50points Rodders!

Clive the ball will repeadly get past ROG but we'll be 10m behind the gainline when it gets to Cave, Zebo and Gilroy.

We don't have guys big enough to fix Tindall and Traille either. Our centres are small quick lads but they will have a long way to run against big athletic fellas. Check mate I'm thinking unless we can really sling the ball very quickly using ROG and Wallace to get around the defence. not an easy thing to do by any stretch of the immagination on a regular basis.

Spence will fix the lack of physicality in the midfield when he comes on. He is honestly one of the best tacklers I have seen.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Aye Rory but it is very easy for some bruiser like Lafiakia to fix Spence and give it to some on like Godzilla running at ROG or someone.
Their physicallity around the park is going to be quite stiffling.

I know I shouldn't, but does anyone else hope Contempomi gets to run through/over O'Gara one last time? Or at least give him another masterclass in how to bring his centres into the game

Contempomi is with the other lot? No, not a chance in hell that I'd wish that on O'Gara. I'm with Dublin Dave I'm afraid.

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
A more admirable man than I. I've always liked Contepomi. In the years when O'Gara was undisputed first choice, between Humphreys twilight years and the emergance of Sexton, Contepomi was the guy in Irish rugby who showed everything we were missing in the outhalf position. That guy could seriously play ball, right up flat to the gainline.
I hope Ireland win, but I'd love to see him and of course big John Afoa have good games. If I could see it that is

Well depending on the result, we'll all be able to imagine what happened. It'll become the epic of many intricate memories that nobody laid eyes on.
I think I'm going to have a real good go at the ref this time (I tend not to mostly) for not spotting blatant infringements and dark-arts on the move by the Mordor boys of Barbaria! I'm going to give him hell!

Yes, whatever the result the big story is how the IRFU have managed to negotiate a deal where all our games against the Barbarians are held overseas and nobody gets to see them

Re: Ireland Team vs Barbarians
Keith Earls scores after a counterattack initiated by Gilroy and involving O'Mahony.
Gilroy seems to be getting involved and doing well. I don't understand the logic in naming the last wing spot before this match; this could have been a shootout between Zebo and Gilroy for that spot.
