Rob McCracken - How do you rate him?
Now, this is hard to quantify. We are not trainers, so really we don't know to any true extent how good these guys are. But as fans we arn't without any kind of knowledge. So how do you rate him.
Personally, I rate him very highly. Not because Froch won this weekend, but because in allt he fights I have been following Froch, he seems able to identify where Froch is going wrong and offers the correct advice. Particularly evident in the Abraham and Kessler fights for me. He recognised Froch ability to switch off in both fights and in Kessler fight you saw him implore Carl to do more, which he just couldn't that night.
Versus Ward, Froch was just outmatched, but they seemed to have got the perfect gameplan together for Bute.
Rate him highly, depsite Froch questionable defence.

I'd like to see what he can do with other fighters.

Seems to be doing fine with Froch and Froch had very high priase for him after the fight with Bute.
Am I right in that McCracken is the chief coach for the UK amateurs?

He is. And we'll see how well they get on too. I rate him. Would be good to see how he deals with different fighters int he pro ranks, too.

I think he's a good trainer. Although people tend to focus on what Froch is missing, some of his strengths are up there with the best in the world. He seems to exploit Froch's strengths very well. Obviously, would be nice to see him deal with other fighters, but for now, he has p4p Britain's best fighter and is head of the amateur system leading into the London Olympics, he's doing pretttttay, prettttttay good.

Can't fault his tactical nous but he suffers from not being able to fully focus his fighters on the job in hand. Froch has switched off more times than a top class operator should and Howard Eastman seemed unaware that McCracken was anywhere in the building during some of his fights.

Who else does he train?
Imo its hard to rate a trainer really highly when he has worked with one fighter and only one fighter. A good trainer is someone who you can give him a new fighter and he can redevelop him. He has has done wonders for froch but how will he do when he isn't so familiar with the fighter.
He got the game plan wrong vs Johnson and ward imo but his advice during rounds seem pretty good, he knows what he's talking about

good trainer, but he got ward fight wrong, froch looked completley lost in the first half, but has good corner advice - but froch needed a better gameplan against ward (although he wouldn't still win)
Him, Tibbs and Bob shannon are the best in this country currently i think

If Selby and Evans dont pick up a medal im blaming McCracken. So ask me after the Olympics

The measure of McCracken as a trainer will be the olympics rather than Froch.

I think he's a good coach, I think Froch is just beyond help sometimes. he'll just go out there and ignore everything that's been said, have a good tear up because he knows his iron chin can take most blows. That's not R Mc's fault.
the trainer can only do so much, it's just 2 men up against each other at the end of the day, and as the great Floyd once said; ''everyone's got a game plan until they get hit''.

He's done a fantastic job with the GB amateur squad- the results prove it. Ans fFroch has had better results in the super six and Bute than many predicted, so , yes I rate him highly
