Klitschko - The Movie
KLITSCHKO tells the captivating story of the boxing worlds most famous brothers: Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. From the socialist drill of their childhood in the Ukraine, and their first successes as amateurs, to their move to Germany and subsequent rise as international stars on the verge of holding the championship titles of all five boxing federations (Wladimir secured this with his unanimous World Boxing Association win against David Haye on July 2nd, 2011). Along the way they experience defeats and setbacks, low points and triumphant comebacks as well as conflicts with each other. Exciting conversations with companions and opponents, including the very first with the Klitschkos parents, give insight into their personal lives, plus never-before-seen footage of the draining preparations for a fight, and the spectacular boxing matches. Director Sebastian Dehnhardt composes an intimate and fascinating portrait of two exceptional athletes who are, before all else, brothers.
I see that this was released on DVD yesterday, my copy is in the post.
Has anyone seen it?

Re: Klitschko - The Movie
I'm getting it this weekend.
Looks good, I wish more boxers did this, because to be honest their back stories and their rise against challenges in their careers are much more interesting than most other sportspeople.
Should be a great watch. If not, I'm volleying it out of the window.

Hopefully it's not as boring as one of Wlad's fights.....

I wonder if they will spend time talking about Vitali's steroid use....when he inadvertantly used it to speed up his recovery from injury. So many boxers have accidentely used steroids.

Not seen it myself, but have heard good things regarding it. Will probably wait to get a few opinions from people on here before shelling out for it.

I doubt it will be warts and all. I'm going to hang on for Audley - The Unbelieveable Truth to come out.

I hope it is not too sanitised. I have my doubts as to how much insight we will really get. At the risk of sending Az into a tailspin, I can't imagine for a second that we will see any details of their slave contract negotiations. The brothers seem to like being in control, so I would love to know how much creative freedom the director had.

The vid will show how nice the brothers are and how they're very keen on the welfare of their sport and their charity work. Lovely blokes all round

We can't all turn our surprise tenners into £70 by believing the Cobra when he said he'd "knock him art" either...

Thanks. Had to bribe the powers that be to get it, mind you, which is why I can't afford the Klitschko DVD.

Re: Klitschko - The Movie
Maybe they should jazz up the plotline or something
Like Wlad is messing about with Vitalis misses because Vitali is away all the time as he is secretly a KGB officer looking to reform Communism and the Soviet Union to the Ukraine and then he is working with some guy called 'Dereck' who is working for MI5 in London who is originally from Zimbabwe and looking to bring Communism to help overthrow the facist rule there
They then get intercepted by some guy called 'David' who is from London but lives in North Cyprus who has secret plans to blow up the Cremlin hidden in his little toe so Vitali and Dereck must stop him. Wlad then confesses all to Vitali they have a fight and but manage to put their differences behind them before heading to Moscow to bring Communism to all of Eastern Europe again. MI5 agent then goes to Cyprus and physically shoots the capitalist spy David which then starts World War 3
This makes for a great sequel where the Klits Bro head west to the States to bring peace and justice to the world...

Steffan should have written the screenplay.
That would be a properly good film.

Union, i actually managed to get hold of tickets to the UK premiere for this last Monday in Leicester Square, the only time something has ever been worth purchasing with my HMV pure points, Wlad and Vitali were both there and introduced the film and there was a short Q&A with them. Wlad was charming and witty, Vitali bless him didn't quite seem to know what was going on but was still great to seem them both.
The film itself is thoroughly enjoyable, it's shot in a similar vein to the Showetime Fight Camp 360 series which aired during the Super 6, and the fight scenes are fantastic with some great camera work which highlight the brutality of some of their shots.
Obviously being as it's their film any controversy (i.e. someone mentioned the Vitali steroids episode) is skimmed over or left out but the film does give an insightful view in to the relationship of the brothers and their story is an interesting one so I would definitely recommend giving it a watch, well worth a tenner in my book.

It will be the reverse of normal boxing films-most are boring bits between exciting fight scenes, this one's will be interesting between stuff and boring fights.

Re: Klitschko - The Movie
It had 'Klitschko vs Haye' listed in the extras and I thought there were to be highlights. Instead we got 5 min of Haye falling at Wlad's feet and numerous shots of Wlad pulling faces at some photos.
Then again, would there have been any highlights worth showing ?

^^This. Considering that Wlad compared Mormeck to Tyson I have to say I seriously doubt this documentary will be full of raw truths. It'll be interesting but unsensational, which is at least more than their fights. Anyone who thinks this will be warts and all...would you be so keen if it was called King or Warren, and made by the people it's about?

Re: Klitschko - The Movie
I see they've brought out a compilation DVD ( 'Kid Dynamite' ) of Tyson destroying the first 17 tomato cans of his career. It runs for about 2 hours.
I wonder how long any future Klitschko highlight compilation DVD would run for ?
