Holloway and Poyet are currently favourites.
And I don't want that fascist **** here, no matter how good a player he was.

Allan Curbishley is still around - I am not sure why he is not returning to football - considering he says he is desparate to get back into it.

Re: Brendan Rodgers reportedly New Liverpoool manager
ps I think the reason why this was all pushed through and resolved so quickly was because the Wigan chairman requested that Liverpool make a decision by Thursday 31st May regarding Martinez. I am of the opinion that Van Gaal was instrumental in persuading the Liverpool owners to pursue Rodgers.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease..........obviously didn't watch Liverpool too much last season. We played some fanastic stuff last season, on ave 20 shots on goal per match, just didn't have that inform striker to finish those chances.
He will get my full backing and will be watching pre season with great interest.

Holloways strikes me more of a Championship level manager tbh. Might be worth an attempt at bringing Martinez back

Graeme Jones, the Wigan Athletic assistant manager, has apparently emerged as the favourite to take over Swansea.

Re: Brendan Rodgers reportedly New Liverpoool manager
Apparently Rodgers HAS demanded that there be no director of football at Liverpool, and that he has full control over footballing matters.
Which I assume is a demand that has been met.
Good for Liverpool in my opinion, and Rodgers' first good decision in the bag already.

Liverpool are unable to sign any Swansea players for 12 months as part of this deal. Would have enjoyed seeing Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen at Anfield, both better that Downing, Henderson and Adam.

Scores goals, assists the strikers, can cross and has pace. All things Downing doesn't.

Ian Ayre says new structure at Liverpool does not involve an individual sporting director but a team of support for Rodgers.
This clears it up.

Re: Brendan Rodgers reportedly New Liverpoool manager
Rodgers will succeed if given a few seasons to improve the club, he needs the players to buy into his philosophy as that is where Hodgson went wrong he didn't have the dressing room or supporters on their side they all want Dalglish who was out of his depth.
They need to identify long term signings who will play a certain way and over time build a squad as right now there isnt a decent team never mind a decent sqaud at Anfield, too many players who can do things ok but not to a high standard

Didn't do it last season. Only player we might get from last years Swansea team is Sigurdson anyway.

This hasn't been confirmed.
The same thing was said about Hodgson when he came to Liverpool that he wasn't allowed to sign any Fulham players for 12 months, then he bought Konchesky.

He will need atleast 3 seasons to get the changes he needs in that average squad, I can see Liverpool getting closer to CL if Arsenal and Spurs have poor seasons.

I don''t think Fulham were too fussed when they took him though

The deal was better for Fulham than it was for Liverpool though, Swansea won't sell any of their main players to you.

Besides a ban on his old players doesn't really work. If Liverpool offer enough money they'll go.

The same way they won't let his manager join us....?
If we offer enough money and the player wants to move, they will join.

Rodgers won't be greedy enough to nick the Swansea players anyway, it is a non starter really. Swansea will want big prices, Rodgers likes to go for bargains not big names.

Presumably Sigurdsson would cost the same as he was willing to pay while at Swansea.
I don't think there any players at Swansea that would cost over £10 million.

Swansea can charge ridiculous prices like 15-20 million for some of their players, its hardly a good business plan for Liverpool to engage with them at this point after cherry picking their boss.If we offer enough money and the player wants to move, they will join.

Again it doesnt matter what a Liverpool fan wants, Swansea will charge far higher than their worth if a club like Liverpool comes in, just like Newcastle did to you with Carroll and Villa did with Downing...I don't think there any players at Swansea that would cost over £10 million.

As I said previously.
This is a manager with an uncanny memory of "escape clause" fees in ex-players contracts
He should go on You Bet with his talent.
He'll know exactly the price to pay if he wants any

Rodgers is good at getting players with talent for knockdown prices (because the parent club didn't have room for them) but it is a different challenge getting players who are worth everything to the parent team, like Allen and Britton.

He's saying he's done it before, moved from an old club to a new club and knew what price unlocked their contract, if that price is in a contract, which it often is, the club can't do anything about it.

Well if Swansea players had clauses like that the other clubs would have a bid accepted by now, if they even do have those clauses, how would they fit in Liverpools team anyway? Henderson, Gerrard or Downing won't be dropped anytime soon.

Those clauses aren't necessarily public knowledge. Besides some require certain conditions to be met (i.e a club in european competitions or something).

They aren't public knowledge. The only time they ever become public knowledge is when said player's agent leaks it to the media.

And if the clauses are 10+ million and the wages that would come with it? Playing well for Swansea is one thing, they fail at Liverpool it will be another costly season

Re: Brendan Rodgers reportedly New Liverpoool manager
Yeah - but it's rare that it is a ridiculous price, because that defies the point of the player insisting it is in the contract. It is usually a fair price, and like Swann's Cat said, includes a sub-clause like the buyer must be in European competition, or higher in the league etc.
Clubs like Real Madrid put it in at the club's insistence, at a ridiculous level, as a form of posturing, and make it public knowledge. E.g. €250m on Ronaldo (I don't know that is the fee - I just remember it was huge)

Every player in La Liga has to have a minimum release cause.
You wouldn't understand…..its science.

I wonder what the odds are now that he'll opportunistically sign Sigurdsson to Liverpool, literally out from under Swansea's nose?
You must have a crystal ball!

You paid £35 million for a cart horse like Carroll but Joey Allen isn't worth £10+ million??? Behave.

Comparing anything to the Carroll price is a waste of time though. He was English, signed on a January deadline, when the team wanted to keep him and we had just sold Torres for £50 million.
